| 14 year old genius writes book Boy, 14, set to graduate from UCLA despite already having two degrees ¿ just don¿t call him a genius | Mail Online Quote:
The one thing 14-year-old Moshe Kai Cavalin dislikes is being called a genius.
All he did, after all, was enroll in college at the tender age of 8 and earn his first of two Associate of Arts degrees at 9 - graduating with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
Now, at just 14, he's poised to graduate from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
| Jesus Christ what the fuck. Heard about this on the drive to school this morning.
Sorry if this is a repost.

His parent must be proud and be like I have the perfect son. But man I wouldn't be able to push my self that hard at such a young age and not going to elementary and high school being a teen and not having that interaction with other of my own age would be mind boggling to me. what's the point...he's likely gonna be social awkward going through post secondary before his teenage years.
Going through university you meet people that start university at 16 or whatever...seems pointless to me because they aren't eligble for scholarships until they turn 18 here.

I always give props to these smart kids for getting things done so early, but at the same time I think that they'll be completely burnt out by their late twenties or early thirties.

Wow, Jewish/Italian/Chinese. Haven't heard that one before.
This kid is a published writer at 14. I think he'll be ok.
His educational background can only open more doors for him, not close.
I think he's just one of those kids who actually enjoy reading and learning.
He scuba dives, plays soccer, does martial arts, and doesn't play video games.. so I don't think he'll be THAT socially awkward.
At least he has activities other than locking himself indoors and staring at a screen.
This kid will have a bright future.

Who wouldn't want some genius to work for them?
His classmates aren't going to be the ones giving him job offers.

His classmates aren't going to be the ones giving him job offers. | Genius' are a coin toss to work with. I've known of some people who I highly value for their intellect, but their know-it-all attitude makes them difficult to work with as some of them have a "my-way-or-the-highway" attitude, or "my-way-is-the-only-way" ethic. Suffice to say, although they're great as an individual, doesn't mean they're great teamplayers; and when they can't work (or run) at team, they're actually counter-productive.
And that's the non-textbook lessons that you're supposed to learn in HS or Post. Learning how to be socially inawkward; gauging and adapting to your social and professional cultures, etc.

^^^
It's not like this kid is living in a cave, though. He seems to participate in a lot of extracurricular activities, where he would be socially interacting with other kids. Looking at all the awards in the background, it looks like he's quite good at everything he does. He's not just a human computer.

Some people are well rounded, some people are anti-social.

Don't know if you guys know this but the guy from The Actor's Studio, James Lipton is pretty smart too.
Wrote 2 books when he was around 13-14, went to France and worked as a "pimp" for a little bit, classically trained in dance, acting, and then helped start the school for acting.

This kid will definitely be socially awkward without the normal interactions with kids his own age.. but again, his thinking isn't the same as kids his own age so who knows if that would even help.

He still plays sports, which, especially soccer, requires lots of interaction with other kids.
He just replaces video games with more reading and studying.

genius or not, i have a hard time picturing anyone reading his book.
i don't know about you guys, but i don't put a lot of stock in a person's opinion when they're still struggling to grow pubic hair
