Tomorrow is Pink Shirt Day in support of anti-bullying. Came across a video just now featuring Richmond students standing against bullying via flash mob at Aberdeen. Pretty cool to see locals taking initiative and raising awareness!

I know many will see this as a waste of time/effort. But i think school spirit in grade school's pretty important...not to mention they probably don't have much interactions with students from other schools either at that age. They probably got to miss school for this too so a bonus for the teachers/students...unless it happened on a weekend.

I said this in the fucked up shit NWS thread, and Ill reiterate it here. I respect the sentiment, but this is NOT a flash mob because there is a meaning behind it. Real flash mobs have no purpose to them other than being totally random or a massive troll (ie. Dressing in blue shirts and brown pants and raiding Best Buy).

i honestly think bullying is a bit of a necessary evil. sure yea, it sometimes goes way too far

but look at this generation of pussies we are raising

does it matter if you raise a kid thats a pussy? he shouldnt have to know how to fight if others behave like rational people. but thats in a perfect world.

Yes and no. There's a often a physiological difference, size and weight so, even if you stand up you get your ass kicked. When I went to school, the bullied kids eventually started carrying knives, so that's really not a good option.

You just need the inbetweeners to stand up to the bullied kids.

well its definitely unacceptable 100% when weapons are involved, obviously. i framed my post from a fair 1:1 on fight perspective.

from that, even if you get your ass kicked, you learn more of a lesson than running away like a little bitch. if you cant stand up for yourself, what else would you stand up for?

We're talking about kids, where 90% of the time it will not be 1:1 and weapons will be involved.

Wonder if any of those kids were peer pressured or bullied into doing that... at that age, wearing a pink shirt and prancing around wouldn't have been at the top of my list of things to do...
