He came to visit our school last year to talk about the crisis in Uganda,
Sad touching presentation and they played the video, pretty much the same video that has just gone viral
But...At the time no one in the school really cared
Now after it went viral..everyones talking about it
Funny how that works
Teenagers are sheep, always following the trends.
These guys at IC paid themselves 1% ($90k) of the total donations, which came out to almost $9 million. Now with this video and how big the bandwagon has gotten, the donations are probably pouring in.
The video has 27 million views on Youtube right now. If 1 million of those views donated $20 to that cause that's $20 million in donations. They just doubled their salary for this year if they stick to the formula of 1%.
After watching the Kony2012 video by Invisible Children, I was sick to my stomach and angry about the evil acts this dude Kony and his army are committing against children. What a sick scumbag.
Although Invisible Children isn't the perfect organization from what I hear, it is shedding some light on this warlord.
-don't really know if a military solution to take out Kony and his minions will work given that many children would be killed in the crossfire.
If only it was easy as playing Modern Warfare 3. This dude would be gone and children would be free.
A major part of this is an extensive worldwide postering campaign planned for April 20th. Presumably this is so they can target stoners, a group known largely for their ability to quickly and effectively accomplish goals.
The mastermind behind the now-famous Kony 2012 video was arrested last night in San Diego for allegedly being drunk in public and masturbating.
Jason Russell was taken into custody by San Diego cops. In addition to allegedly masturbating, cops say he vandalized cars.
Russell, the co-founder of Kony 2012, is the father of two, and says he wants to have 9 more kids.
Russell is the co-founder of Invisible Children as well as the filmmaker of the ultra-viral video which has set records on the Internet -- with more than 80 million views.

I don't know why people are fussing over this detail. ALL non-profits take a HUGE cut of the donations. The percent that goes into operation and marketing costs and salaries can be up to 80% depending on the company.
90k for a nonprofit exec is chump change compared to guys at make a wish foundation or any large well known organization.
They get paid so much because no one wants to do this work. It's the same thing for places like the SPCA.
*didn't read the whole thread so this might have already been covered..
Come on guys, lets talk about the real problem at hand. Don't be such jerk offs, this is a real sticky situation he's gotten himself into that's being blown outta proportion.

It has already been covered. Ben Keesy pays himself and other members of his organization salaries many times higher than the industry averages. If you read back through the thread, you'll see that the directors/editors of the film are being paid double the industry average wages.
Working based on percentages,
Red Cross; CEO salary, $995,718; Percent of total expenses, 0.02%.
Invisible Children; CEO salary, $88,241; Percent of total expenses, 0.99%.
I also disagree that many people do not want to do this work, many people do, but they choose not to because they would normally need to accept very low wages to do so on a full time basis.
