Sons of Anarchy is US only.

StylinRed 09-03-2012 10:31 PM

Ah thanks guys looks like I did set it up correctly its connected to the US one

I was a bit unsure because when going to Google I would still be sent to google.ca
that and netflix didn't have a lot of movies I was searching for

91civicZC 09-04-2012 06:17 AM

I posted this in the other netflix thread, but this one seems to be more about the DNS codes and how to get US netflix, as well as more traffic, so Ill post it again. Need help!

I have been trying to get the different DNS codes to work for me for several days to access US netflix, no luck. I’ve actually tried a primary and secondary that works for a friend of our on their PS3, doesn’t work for me on my PS3 or my Xbox.

I’m logging in, changing only my DNS setting to the new DNS numbers and leaving all my other settings the same. Test the connection with the new numbers and everything works, but when I log into Netflix, I still only see the Canadian content.

I have tried resetting my router, modem, console, and Netflix accounts. I’ve tried different numbers, some of which I have verified work for a friend to get the US content. I am wondering if my setup has something to do with it. Dlink 655 router, wireless for both consoles, and on Shaws service.

Any thoughts on what I may need to change to get this to work? Currently Im trying to use tunlrs DNS codes. I want to set this up on my PS3 or Xbox, not on my router.

Presto 09-04-2012 08:40 AM

What are the DNS numbers you're using?

Mizter 09-04-2012 08:47 AM

I've been using this to access US content.

tunlr.net

91civicZC 09-04-2012 08:52 AM

using tunlrs numbers

184.82.222.5 as primary

199.167.30.144 as secondary

Putting them in under PS3 internet network settings, leaving everything else the same. I test it, everything connects okay, but then I fire up netflix and still only get Canadian content. I have a feeling it has to do with my router or modem from shaw settings, but I have no idea what. I have limited knowledge of these functions, but its like something in my settings is "overriding it". Any suggestions?

terkan 09-04-2012 09:59 AM

is there an app or something i can use on my nexus 7 that'll allow me access to the us version?? i think i watched everything on netflix at work already

should try deleting netflix from your ps3

making a US PSN account and redownload netflix from the PSN store and see if that works

91civicZC 09-04-2012 11:24 AM

I actually have both US and CND PSN accounts already, the Netflix app I am using is whatever was included on a PSN update some time ago. I’ve never even seen the Netflix app in the PSN store. Anyone know where it is? Ill erase it and download if I can find it, but even searching for “Netflix” it only comes up for the vita.

Here is what I am seeing when I look at the setup, is something here causing the issue that anyone can see?

Internet connection: enabled

Connection method: wireless

Connection strength: 100%

SSID: (not posting)

BSSIC: (no idea what this is, so not posting)

Channel: (not posting)

Security: WPA2-PSK (AES)

WPA Key: (not posting)

Address settings: Automatic

IP Address: (not posting, but it still shows my original IP, regardless of which DNS I believe, is this the problem?)

Subnet Mask: (don’t know what this is, but number doesn’t seem to change as well, is this an issue?)

Default Router: (shows my original router number, same as before)

Primary DNS: 184.82.222.5

Secondary DNS: 199.167.30.144

Mac address: Don’t know what this is, not posting

MTU: Automatic

Proxy Server: Do not use

UPnP: Available

NAT Type: Type 2

Again, I only have a VERY basic knowledge of what this stuff is, but it seems like I should be able to just changed my DNS, and it should work as it has for people I know. Anything someone can see here that would make it not work?

Edit
For anyone else having this issue, check your router. If it’s a Dlink, the newer ones ship with something called “advanced DNS protection” or something like it. It’s basically a “safety” that Dlink puts into the routers now, but it really doesn’t work.
Uncheck that box in your router, and you should be good to go.

Any idea how to rectify the error

N8106-154-5003

supposedly its received when too many devices are streaming but my dad only uses the ps3 to stream and there are no other devices connected

vafanculo 09-29-2012 03:46 PM

I was given an ip address yesterday, popped it in my ps3, and within a few minutes, hello US netflix. Question - is this good to go, or does somebody eventually catch on?

I dont know if they'll catch on or if they already know people in this thread seem to have been using this method for ages
Im assuming netflix doesnt care since they're getting paid and it looks like you're using it through the US anyhow

proxydns.co is still functional.

DNS 1: 74.207.242.213

Are you using this on an Xbox or on a router? When i use this on my xbox, netflix just hangs on the red loading screen, wont load up for some reason.

+1

I've tried restarting my ps3 several times. I've even tried disconnecting my internet.

Zordon 08-03-2013 09:49 AM

Does anyone have a working DNS?

I was using
190.14.36.90
109.123.111.24

for the past several weeks with no problems. This morning when i fired it up, it was back to the Canadian content.

Neva 08-03-2013 10:18 AM

How does hidemynet work with Shaw cable service? Does it take over Shaw IP? Can u describe in a non techie term, I would like to try them out to watch American Netflix on my transformer pad.

Also where do I find the 50% lifetime discount?

I use hotspot shield, works like a charm. If you are using the free version you may have to restart it a couple times to attach to a US proxy.

Would this work for the PS3 as well or just the computer?
