Donnie Yen to Film “Ip Man 3″ in August 2012 Updated News IP Man 3 set to be filmed in 3D http://www.popularasians.com/forum/a...0&d=1331181406 Since its release, the Ip Man <葉問> movie franchise has been wildly successful, grossing as one of the top Chinese movies of all time. Martial arts star, Donnie Yen’s (甄子丹) portrayal as Ip Man was highly praised, while his martial arts power captivated and stunned worldwide audiences. To the delight of fans, it was announced earlier that Donnie Yen may be reprising his role as the Wing Chun grandmaster in the upcoming Ip Man 3, also dubbed ast Ip Man: The Final Chapter <葉問终极篇>. Filming was scheduled to start in August 2012. Based on Ip Man Producer Raymond Wong’s (黃百鳴) preliminary discussions with Donnie Yen and the original cast of the movie franchise, the cast indicated interest in partaking in the third installment. It was also reported by Chinese media sources that rising martial arts star, Rose Chan (陳嘉桓), who was featured in the prequel, The Legend Is Born: Ip Man <葉問前傳>, will also be starring in the Ip Man: The Final Chapter. However, the life blood behind Ip Man, Donnie Yen was currently busily filming Special Identity <特殊身份> with Vincent Zhao ( 趙文卓). Afterward, Donnie will be filming The Iceman Cometh 3D <3D急凍奇俠> opposite Daniel Wu (吳彥祖). Donnie will need to complete the current movie projects on hand before he can dedicate time to film Ip Man: The Final Chapter. While Donnie had expressed interested in exploring other film genres such as comedies, his forte remained in martial arts action films. Practicing martials arts under the guidance of his mother when he was 4 years old in the United States, Donnie later studied with the Beijing Wushu Team. Perhaps martial arts talent was indeed hereditary in the Yen family, as Donnie’s 4-year-old son, James, also exhibited natural talent. Donnie said with a laugh, “My son, James, never watched [my] movies, but he kicks and punches all day! I do not know where he learned that from!” Director Herman Yau (邱禮濤) has started the pre-production preparations for the filming of Ip Man 3 this summer. Dubbed as Ip Man: The Final Chapter, the Chinese movie will shoot at Xiqiao DreamWorks, China’s second largest filming studio after Hengdian World Studios. Located in Foshan, Guangdong Province, Xiqiao Dreamworks was the new billion dollar (Yuan) venture which offered movie makers an impressive 8-million square feet filming base, while serving as a theme park to Chinese tourists. |

Nice. I originally heard he wasn't interested in doing another one. inb4zomgitsnothistoricallyaccurate! |
so, how many people is he going to fight this time ? Billion ? :fuckyea: |
ugh... another one? cant stand the campy / pro china / anti japan themes that he's been enjoying likely still watch it though lol |
With a recent flood of Ip Man films on the market, Donnie Yen, who gives himself 120 marks for his performance in Ip Man 2 compared 90 marks for the first, has made up his mind, "After Ip Man 2, I would never ever touch any films related to Ip Man. This will be my final film on the subject. Whenever something becomes a success, everyone would jump on the bandwagon, this is very frightening. Did you know how many Ip Man films are in production? Under such condition, we would not progress, it'd only lead to over-saturation of the subject matter." Guangzhou Daily, Sina |
Donnie Yen is an awesome martial arts star. The choregraphed fight scenes in "Ip Man 2" were well done. -glad to see that the final movie in the trilogy will be made this year. |
sweet  |

"historically inaccurate" is one thing, taking a big wet sloppy turd on your subject's grave and disrespecting his family in order to turn him into a propaganda tool is quite another, and I will personally have nothing to do with any of the Ip Man movies even though I liked 99% of the first one. |
HELL YEA! IP MAN was soooo freakin awesome! Infact, I'm gonna rewatch it on blu-ray tonight! lol |
who can forget this scene. best described as :fuckyea: |

IP Man set to be filmed in 3D Due to the two extremely successful Ip Man <葉問 > movies, a third installment was frequently rumored to be in the works. It was announced yesterday that Donnie Yen (甄子丹) will return for Ip 3, which will focus on the story between Ip Man and his disciple, Bruce Lee. Ip 3 will be filmed in 3D format at the end of the year! Feel the Power of Wing Chun in 3D! In the beginning of 2012, producer Raymond Wong (黃百鳴) consulted with the original cast and crew of the Ip Man franchise on how to make the third movie more compelling. The production crew decided the answer would be 3D. This will give audiences a more thrilling experience and magnify the power of the Wing Chun martial arts style. Mr. Wong stated, “3D will add more dimension to the action scenes. Since the movie will be filmed in 3D format, the production costs will be higher than the first two Ip Man movies.” Featuring Bruce Lee’s Story Ip Man 3 will focus on the relationship between Ip Man and his most famous disciple, Bruce Lee. The scriptwriter for Ip Man 3 was Raymond Wong’s son, Edmond Wong (黄子桓). The story for Ip Man 3 was still being conceptualized, but Edmond revealed that it will follow a young Bruce Lee training under the grandmaster. The actor to play Bruce Lee has not been determined yet. Edmond Wong said, “Perhaps, we may cast an overseas actor. Actors who have played Bruce Lee in past films were Aarif Lee (李治廷) and Danny Chan (陈国坤). However, they may be too old to play a 16-year-old Bruce Lee. We will have to wait for director Wilson Yip (叶伟信) to decide.” Edmond added that Ip Man will remain as the central character in the Ip Man 3. Donnie Yen has already expressed interest in filming Ip Man 3. Donnie’s public relations representative, Ms. Cheung, stated, “Donnie anticipates working on the movie. He had preliminary discussions with Raymond Wong already. Since Donnie did not see the script yet, he is not clear on the details of the story.” Since the script was currently under development, Raymond Wong indicated that it was not clear as to whether the movie will feature Ip Man in his old age. Ip Man 3 will start filming at the end of 2012. |

with good balance of fighting and good story telling. Second one was garbage, and I hated the fight scenes, and the whole table fight was just ridiculous. Seems like they decided to rely on a lot of wires in the fight choreography. |
Gf said because of the success Ip Man has Donnie Yen is getting cocky in real life about his martial arts skills and his ego instead of thinking it was because of Director, he thought it was him. Guess he's mixing his success in with his staged martial arts acting. Hong Kong people now have a name for him, I forgot what it was but I remember it was mainly about his huge ego; getting cocky on set too I hear. |
i cant wait. i dont really care about his attitude. as long as he makes good movies |

Who fucken cares? We don't have to deal with him, we just have to watch him on screen |
^ well people still kinda idolize stars... so its kinda disappointing when stars have poor attitudes. even if people dont idolize stars, its still kinda fucked up how fame can change a person so much. but then again, we dont know if Donnie Yen's characteristics are what people say it is so who knows. |
Just watched SPL. Badass fight scene.. |
