The Gmax is pretty nice. There is the older General Altimax HP. They are pretty reliable. Continental and General put a lot of safety, wear and noise technology in their tires.

The DWS is all season. The DW and Ventus V12 are dedicated summer tires.

Real men rock R comps on the street.

R888 for life.

Didn't want to start a new thread....

General Altimax HP
or
Yokohama Avid Touring S
or
Yokohama AVID ENVigor

:considered:

They are both around the same price from the States. The General Tire is slightly better than the Yokohama in terms for reviews. Anyone have any experience with either model?

I just got a set of Kumho Ecsta 4X and they are great. Very well rated and supposedly rivals the Continental DWS.

I have used the Generals. They are good, but are being replaced by the General Gmax AS03. The Avid Touring S is old now, the Avid Envigor is good, but the Continental DWS is king still. However this tire is only good for 16"
and higher. The other tire you should consider is the Vredestein Quatrac 3. Its an all season with a snow rating. We can supply those.

I have been using the Nitto Motivo's and they have been working very well, + kal tire offers a 100km warranty on them right now I believe.

information's all here: https://shop.kaltire.com/tiresdetails2/modelid/150/

I've got General G-Max AS-03 on my car, which replaced my Kumho XS.

IMO, for the type of driving I did, specifically DD. I felt the G-Max were a much more even tire compared to the XS.

Even factoring in the tire differences, All season and Extreme Summers

Traum 11-03-2012 01:02 PM

Kumho XS is really only a good choice when it is completely dry and the temperatures are high enough. For the most part, it might even be more appropriate to consider it a dry track tire (as opposed to a street tire). In the wet, the XS makes for a really poor tire choice.

- ALL SEASON (wet , dry)
- Lowest ROAD NOISE
- BEST value
- LONGETIVITY

205/50-17 HANKOOK VENTUS V4 ES H105 93W BW
Brand: HANKOOK
Type: ULTRA HIGH PERFORMANCE ALL-SEASON
$501 installed

EDIT: removed FALKEN

205/50-17 ACHILLES Atr Sport 93W XL BW
Brand: ACHILLES
Type: 0
$425 installed

Continental Extreme Contact DWS
-Out of my budget - do not suggest.

I have a set of snow's that I run during winter so the above will only be used from Mar- Nov

Thanks for your help guys.

For longevity I'd say Michelin Hydroedges, but I didn't like the ride quality because they were a bit stiff (hence why it lasted so long LOL).

I tried the Bridgestone Potenza's afterwards (on a 1992 Camry) and loved the mix of comfort, grip and longevity. They weren't that great in snow but were awesome in dry and rainy conditions.

HTH.

Overseas Auto1 11-05-2012 08:48 AM

The Achilles ATR Sport should not even be in the running for an all season tire. They look good and work good in the dry, but they are scary in the wet.

tamazoid 11-05-2012 12:07 PM

No one else tried the Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position? IMO, they're the best all-season tire. Extremely good in the wet and and dry. Better than the Continental ExtremeContact DWS. But probably not as many size selection in the Bridgestone.

Never tried in snow though...

dn53 11-06-2012 01:27 AM

I have the achilles sport and yes the tires life last long as fuck, but it is not fun in the winter. It really is the definition of a economy tire

Love my potenza 970as pole position. Good on wet/dry decent on snow. (Experienced on snow with 960as).

I just got two Hankook Ventus V2 Concept H437 and jesus they handle nice, purposely drove through a decent sized puddle going around 70km/h and car didnt budge, passes water flawlessly. Really good tire for the money, i got two of them for 179 bucks through discount tire.

+1 Got a pair a few weeks ago for my DD and I was surprised how well they handle for a all season tire. Nice solid sidewall and good grip in wet or dry.

Overseas Auto1 11-08-2012 08:07 AM

We can get any tire from Hankook through Hankook Canada

monkeywrench 11-08-2012 08:27 AM

Every customer I've spoken with that has DWS installed say they are amazing. Definitely my next set of tires
