Are you worried about being implicated with him because you let him cheat? I had a friend in a similar situation, he got caught with a crib sheet on a final exam. He talked his way out of more serious consequences but ended up with a 0 on that course. He could have been expelled and his record could have stated that he did academic dishonesty. For what your friend did, he will probably only get 0 in that assignment. Or was it many assignments? He might also have a record of academic dishonesty. Its good that he came clean though. |
if your prof is solid on reporting it & your friend already confessed, theres really nothing you can do..... My friend and her friend was in a same situation (UBC)... copier got kicked out and my friend apparently has a "record" sorry to hear but your friend shouldve known not to copy word by word Posted via RS Mobile |
Your friend should express remorse and ask for leniency if it comes to that. |
... Double post |
Your friend is so stupid he can't even cheat properly :lawl: Just hope you don't get implicated when he gets busted. Aside from that, not much you or anyone else can do for him. Sounds like school just wasn't the right path for him. Posted via RS Mobile |
Dumb friend to not reword your assignment. Are you on the hook as well? The facilitater is usually at fault too. I was a TA at SFU. Caught more than half the class cheating on an assignment because the prof was too stupid to copy the exact question on the internet. The answer key was easily searchable. I told my students they are stupid for not rewording the answer key. Haha Also told the prof he should at least change the question slightly. Posted via RS Mobile |
^ what happened to those students afterwards? Or the prof just didn't care? |
I would be worried about yourself at this moment as the one being cheated off of will be reprimanded too. He chose to cheat on you, let him deal with the repercussions, and you can worry about what's coming your way as there will be a good chance you get a academic dishonesty on your profile. |
If you can share the prof name and school, perhaps some of us will know how lenient this person is. |

Econ 345 with newman. Stupid thing to do really. |
He is a sessional instructor. In general, they are more "by-the-book" because they started their teaching career recently, hoping to gain an on-going teaching contract by doing well. |

I just gave everyone full marks on their assignments. Not to reward their cheating but I can't just give them zeros because I only handle 30% of the entire class. The class is curved so I don't want my "honest" students to have an unfair disadvantage. Posted via RS Mobile |

What I meant was 345 is so easy to start with, why do you need to cheat. |

wow, if i could get in UBC id be smarter than letting a friend cheat off me. |
Ouch, just hope you don't get a record at this point. I had a friend that did a paper without citing all the literature and they got kicked out for plagiarism for a year. UBC takes it very seriously and could care less for the well being of your friend. Best case scenario is probation for a year at this point. Are they that stupid to not reword your assignment? I pretty much reworded many academic journals throwing in some of my own ideas and it was never a problem as long as you site pretty much every fact. Posted via RS Mobile |

How should he proceed ? Take the fall by himself. |
^i feel sorry for your friend.. and you you shouldn't let peer pressure get to you, letting him copy was the dumbest idea ever lol.. if he wasn't smart enough to reword what you sent him, he probably doesn't deserve to be in UBC |
Its true. If he can't even cheat properly in school, how can he function in the real world. |
