do you guys think its worth paying the $64 for the certificates for refund or replacement from discount tire direct?

Shorn 02-28-2013 01:54 AM

went to volco on bridgeport (also known as 1010 tires) recently.

no complaints.

does anyone know why tire rack doesn't ship toyo tires to OR or WA?

hkRicer 02-28-2013 08:44 PM

discount tire pick up in store = no shipping fee i believe.

I bought mine from discount tire (the store), and the guy offered me the same thing.

I said I'll pass, and he said he'd pay half lol so I ended up paying $20 for warranty on all 4 tires.

How would it work if you're in Canada? I would assume you'd have to take the tire back to the nearest Discount Tire to get the replacement? Seems like a bit of a hassle especially having to deal with US and Canadian customs when you do need to get it swapped out.

Somebody probably has a distributor contract for just those states with toyo that may have been dated back to before tirerack got toyo, or they are contracted out as a secondary distributor that buys in bulk from tirerack.

Ive had great experience with DTD and it has always been cheaper than TireRack.

Buying from DT online and picking up in store is subject to WA's sales tax. Shipping them from outside WA to WA and you won't get hit with tax.

Win win in this case is to buy from DTD (Discount Tire Direct) and ship to WA since it's free shipping and no sales tax.

jpark 03-01-2013 01:04 AM

DTD for me, but their selection is limited as opposed to Tirerack

I've ordered from both but if and when the two companies carry the same tire, the other will more than likely do a price match. Been successful once and shipping was offered free as a bonus with DTD.

i recently ordered tires from direct tire, price online was 70 per, so 280$ canadian it was like 288, after tax and duty picking up it was 348$, 1010tire.com all in comes to about 370$ for the exact same tire if u pick up at their location.

i work at a dealership so i just ordered through my dealership, they price matched and it showed up in my office 3 hours later!

Essentially yes. But I have another set of tires I can drive on down to Bellingham with, and it's only about a 40 minute drive for me.

I only bought it because my last set of tires, I had to replace 2 nearly new tires because a pothole ripped open my sidewall. I'll gladly pay $20 and drive a bit with some hassle than spend $300

Just a heads up for everyone. Racing Greed is a Tire Rack distributor and we can bring in all products from their website for the website price with a low shipping cost equivalent to getting it shipped within the US.

On a side note, I'm pretty sure that we can bring in Toyo tires as well. I think we just got some in a couple weeks ago.

discount tire have their own ebay account. so if you have an ebay account, the transaction is easier...plus free shipping to point roberts. for tirerack, you have to add ~$62 for shipping.

Gazorcoop 03-12-2013 05:50 PM

1010tires is fine if you don't want to deal with the hassle. Look through their sale section. There are decent selections without the hassle of picking them up and mounting them elsewhere.

1010tires includes free mounting/balancing/install at their distribution centers (Volco Tires, etc). For reference, I got my 215/45/17 Falken FK-452 summer tires for $499.00+tax. Not too bad.
