Cathay Pacific was formed when Hong Kong was still a BRITISH colony. Their pilots have traditionally been British dating back to the start of the 20th century. Given that they are based in Hong Kong, it makes sense to hire from the local populace for customer service roles (i.e flight attendants) But for pilots, they obviously source it from U.K expats given the sense of tradition. Call it a gentlemen's club or whatever. |
