You're the biggest fucking fagget ever with a comment like that. What do you expect the elderly to do? Come to Canada and get jobs so they can "contribute" to society for the rest of their lives? I feel sorry for anyone that has to come in contact with such a inconsiderate piece of shit like you.

This was one of the moments where you should of kept your opinion to yourself because you're dumb as a rock. Try telling your parents in the future to not roam the streets and stay home all day because they're not contributing to society.

My mom's about to turn 90 and my mother in law hit 80. Neither of them have dementia, but it's scary when you get that old. My mom can't get far because of bad legs, but more worried about her falling and breaking her hip.

If you guys have grandparents, get to know them and cherish the time you share with them.

I argue with my mom all the time, but my children adore their grandma. Her cooking is second to none. So glad to see them care for her when they get the chance. My children are the reason she wants to keep going strong.

this right here, i wish i wasnt such a little cunt when i was younger and got to know my grandparents better

RIP

gonna buy a GPS bracelet or something when my parents start to lose it. No one deserves to die cold and alone in the woods.

dammit this is gut wrenching.

Even old people contribute to the Canadian soceity, when they arrive, comsuption goes up, and they pay taxes for the stuff they consume; this consumption might not be much, but if you add up everyone, it actually creates job for our local people to produce that consumption.

Why was grandma wondering off by herself anyways? My grandparents are always accompanied by somebody.

People with Dementia/Alzheimer's just get up on their own and leave. Some look for a place they recall from their childhood. This happens often.

Dementia and wandering | Better Health Channel

A good friend of mine has a wife who suffers from Alzheimer's. They both shared so much together and it hurts him that she cannot recognize or remember him or other family members. There's nothing you can do, except continue to look after them. So sad. Closest thing to hell on earth - such a strain on the family. The body is fine, but the mind is not there. Cruel joke by life. As if cancer and other diseases weren't enough.

Take it to Fight Club instead of making this thread about how much you don't like niu99's opinions.

I always feel sad to see those grandma wandering around in the morning picking up recycle cans or just walking around. Don't the families care? I would never let my grandma just walk around like that..

Ikkaku 03-24-2012 11:12 PM

most of the time, those wandering grandma's go around because it's a way to burn time

essel 03-24-2012 11:40 PM

My grandma does that and yes we care and no, there's nothing we can do about it. A lot of old Chinese grandma's are very frugal and sees this as some sort of hobby to them.

It's not as bad now but when I was younger, she would always bring me old junk she finds in people's backyard and trash and ask if they are still in working condition. She's brought stuff like microwaves, old video games systems, old phones, cd players, tape players, etc.

We own the house next to us and she's been living in the basement suite for a long time now. We rent the top suite out. She likes to live on her own.

She would have these huge garbage bags full of cans and make me drive her to the recycle place to exchange for cash.

It's quite embarrassing but she knows I'm the only one out of my family who doesn't really yell at her for doing these things. I care bare to break her heart as well I guess. But I definitely do not agree with her doing this as if she is a hobo.

Once she promised me it was the last time she would do it but she lied.

BBMme 03-25-2012 01:24 AM

It's because they lived in a different time eh, unlike us we have everything. You can say it was because of their choices/sacrifice we were able to have what we have eh. I do disagree with elders picking up cans, but it's difficult to stop when they have been doing it for so many years eh.
