| How to make dull paint shiny again?
My red paint is getting a bit dull... i wanna make it shiny again what do i have to do?

was thinking about that but then i could always use that money to buy a porter cable and do it my self and i get a free porter cable out of it.. its not that dull but will a wax itself just reshine it? i got some nxt2.0 in my garage that has been sittin there for a long while.. got claybars and some other crap that was sitting for a year or 2...

Take a trip to Autowerkes Exclusive in Maple Ridge. Ken will hook you up with a porter cable, pads, compounds, polishes and waxes. He'll even show you the techniques to get things started.

Detailing noob here! (Me) Don't quote me on this but it's most likely from oxidation. If it doesn't seem too serious, you should definitely get your hands on a porter cable and spend a day to give your car an exterior detail. Waxing will only be a temporary fix, after the wax gets washed off, you will once again be in the same situation. You should definitely go see Ken (Autowerkes) and he'll get you the right products to fix your paint depending on the condition of your vehicle.

thanks all, yeah i think im gonna have to visit ken sometime, i looked at his site and i think he doesn't ship items any more... i would probably get better advice in person anyway, should be worth the long drive.. man detailing this thing is probably gonna be a pain, wash, claybar, wax lotta stuff to do but i guess its worth it in the end!

Thanks. Just wish we could get the damn Paypal to work.  I like it because it gives me way more freedom to change things, run promotions etc. Look for deals catering to local guys as I'm going to be focusing on the local market this year. Americans are too damn cheap.

Depends how dull it looks. Do you have a pic for reference? Keeping the car constantly waxed is a good way to keep the shine. Otherwise, spend a day or two, claybarring, polishing and waxing. The shine should come back in no time.

tried to remove a mark off front bumper with scratch x2.0 and it made it shiny!!! the mark didnt go away that much though
i think ill use this to remove oxidation but which pad should i use it on, the cutting or the polishing..
also ken do u have any quick spray wax that are any good like the meguiars quick spray wax... this might save me some time, i wonder if they are any good though.. ill be ordering the porter cable from you soon for sure just still deciding on what else ill need..

| Optimum Spray wax has decent durability. Sonax is very nice to use but durability is unknown. Werkstat Acrylic Jett Trigger is a spray sealant with great durability. | |

Its basically a clear coat that is applied by hand. It will hide pretty much all scratches, swirls etc and leave your paint looking new. The downside is, you can't polish it unless they put a few layers on. If you happen to go through the RestoreFX coating, you need to sand down the rest of the panel before reapplying. Thats what I was told by the RestoreFX guy in my complex.

It is after all, just a coating and like factory clear coat, susceptible to the same issues if you are not careful. I'm sure using a finishing polish and medium pad to remove light swirls wouldn't be an issue.
