Beware of taking allergy pills with "D" or "extra strength"...read the label and avoid pseudoephedrine. This shit is bad for you and you should NOT take it for more than a few days.

allergies will be the end of me, i swear. never had an issue until my early 20s. I am also starting shot next week for indoor allergies.
pseudoephedrine is not particularly bad is it? i know it makes you drowsy but i agree, medications such as benadryl are temporary relief meds that should not be taken for too long.

make sure you clean your hands before rubbing your eyes and what not. that's why so many people get sick during allergy season because it turns into a cold from easy bacterial entry usually through eyes nose and mouth.

Having really bad allergies this past week, going to see a doctor tomorrow.

In the mean time, neti pot + allergy meds + paper stuffed in nose = temporary relief

pseudoephedrine is a stimulant. it does work...but it has adverse effect. Pseudoephedrine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I started getting my spring allergies about 3 weeks ago. Some days I'll be fine but others it'll hit me head on. Been taking reactine 24 hr non drowsy when I need to. It works pretty well for about 12 hrs. I don't usually have allergies all spring and summer tho so I'm hoping they will hurry up and pass quickly.

^ I am pretty sure you can go to any natural or holistic doctor/clinic to have it done.

allergist do it to, but you need to referral from your GP.

stop taking pharmaceutical stuff. they will cure you now but in the long run they are bad for you.

go to your doctor and get an allergy test. but don't buy what they prescribe you. just eat healthy food.

So just wondering where you get your bs misinformation from? Seriously, people who are not healthcare professionals should stop pretending they know what they're talking about.

Pollen nicotine dust and mold are my allergies. I just wash my face, rinse my eyes and nose (snort warm water) regularily and wash my hands regularily and seldom need to take allergy pills as a result.

my buddy with extremely harsh allergies taught me this trick

for insatiably itchy eyes: cut a potato in half and place the flesh of the potato against the eye. the starch alleviates the itchiness

for extremely itchy throats: eat food with lots of fibre (ie. apples, oatmeal, popcorn).

i havent tried these methods myself but i hope it helps some of you in times of desperation

I've tried a Neti-Pot and flushed out my nose and nazal cavaity once/twice a day - it does wonders, especially if you've been all congested and sneezing. It also helps with the puffy eyes.

Otherwise I take a Reactine/Claratin 12hr twice a day (I find it works better than the 24hr stuff) and carry a nasal spray whenever it hits me hard.

I had allergy tests done a few years ago - it was worse than putting up with an entire year of allergies! My arm swelled up 3x it's normal size, and I itched and sneezed for days on end. Not recommended IMHO.
