TELUS sent a note saying they’ll launch the GS III June 20th “in both marble white and pebble blue colors.” In addition, they said the device has “a 1.5GHz Dual-Core processor” and “will also be available with 16GB of memory or 32 GB of memory for $159.99 and $209.99 on a three year term, respectively.” TELUS has also decided to put a promo together that will see the $35 activation fee waived.
$160, not bad. $150 for Rogers.

Wonder how much Wind will have it for, and if it'll be the same version as other carriers. If so I am jumping ship to Wind's $40 plan.

RuzzFuzz 05-30-2012 12:14 PM

If I buy it full price from Rogers, can they unlock it for a fee or something?

!Yaminashi 05-30-2012 12:57 PM

^Doubtful. You're better off just waiting until someone on XDA releases an unlock method

PornMaster 05-30-2012 05:35 PM

Its 50 to get unlock from rogers

They also won't sell it to you outright if you're not an existing customer. Which I don't think you are if you're asking about unlocking already.

"The SGH-i747 variation of the GALAXY S III will be available from Bell Mobility, Virgin Mobile, SaskTel, TELUS and Rogers Wireless. The SGH-iT999 model will be available from Videotron, Wind and Mobilicity"

LTE on the i747 and LTE disabled on the iT999

ShadowBun 05-30-2012 11:54 PM

will the hardware for LTE will still be there though?

CRiXy 05-31-2012 01:45 AM

I hear June 20 in Canada.

All depends on the Bands it supports. But I doubt it since the smaller guys don't have LTE yet.

tell them you travel abroad frequently, however they will still make you sign up for 1 month minimum because they are Rogers.

Let me get this straight. Both of these are still going to be 1.5 Ghz dual core phones while asia gets the quad core?

Damn. Is the lack of LTE a huge deal, though? I don't download or watch video much. Mainly stream audio and podcasts.

Japan and Canada gets the Dual core with 2GB ram

When does Canada EVER get the better variants?

It's because they want LTE speeds.

Kind of lame then if the non-LTE North American one is still dual-core.

It was probably easier for them to keep all north america with the same model? I dunno. Until actual benchmarks from both devices are out we won't know for sure if one is better than the other.

!Yaminashi 05-31-2012 03:54 PM

But are benchmarks really that important? If one gets a higher score than the other, would you really notice the difference in day to day usage?

Probably not

It's possible. There's a noticeable difference in the HTC One X variants.

But do the One X variants compete against each other in Benchmark tests?

I say if the phones are considered to be the "Little Brother" of the One X, then obviously there will be a difference in performance. However, when you're competing with one flagship phone and another, I agree with the earlier statement that Benchmark results probably won't be noticed.

ie: HTC One X vs Samsung Galaxy S3

Could it be you are using a case on the S3?
