NIKON Coolpix L120

Hi all. I'm looking to get a digital camera. I was looking into NIKON Coolpix L120.
It seems like it has everything I'm looking for. I'm brand new to photography.
I would appreciate any input or advice. Suggestions and tips are strongly recommended.

Thanks,

Ivan

No clue about the camera, but there is a thread for this sort of conversation already. Good luck with your camera shopping

I'm sure most people will say it's alright, but you need a G12, or NEX, or M9, or D800, or MKIII, or an X.

What do you want to use the camera for? Will you be traveling with the camera? Taking pictures at a bar?

Do you really need the superzoom feature?

This camera is okay, but if you drop $100 - $200 more, you can get a brand new consumer DSLR, or a used prosumer DSLR.

Well I do want to use it for more than just casual stuff. I will be driving to Grande Prairie so there will be plenty of opportunities for some nice pics there. As far as DSLR and all those other technical terms go, I have no idea. Again I could use a lesson or two.

you can do some astrophotog there, shoot in raw if possible so you can do some photoshoping. Even without a dslr, you still need a camera with 'manual program' or on the dial "M" to do the creative stuff.

Cambridge in Colour - Photography Tutorials & Learning Community is a good site to do some learning and such

If you don't need the super zoom and don't want a DSLR, I would recommend this
Canon U.S.A. : Consumer & Home Office : PowerShot S100

or G12

If you want the ability to change lenses

M3/4 by loympus and panasonic and the regular dslr (Nikon/Canon)
pretty much any will satisfy your needs

and if you do get a bridge camera or any other camera, get a tripod !

Serious question, what a good camera for taking pictures at the bar?
Something along the lines of S95/100 ? Cause it's small and low light ability?
