Lamborghini Urus SUV

After years of rumours, speculation, and general discussion of a possible Lamborghini SUV, what was merely a notion in the past is now reality. Whether or not you're for luxury high-performance SUVs or not, it's hard to deny how unique the Urus looks, even if it is still a concept vehicle.

The first images of the Lamborghini Urus SUV have leaked ahead of its unveiling at the Beijing Motor Show next week.

The images shows angular lines that are clearly influenced by the Estoque saloon concept, making it one of the most aggressive SUVs around. It’s expected to rely heavily on carbon fibre, given Lamborghini’s speciality with the material, which should save weight and improve rigidity for better handling.

Power is expected to come from either the new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 found in the Bentley Continental GT and Audi S6 and S7, or it may use another Bentley engine, the 6.0-litre W12.

As is mandatory for anything with a Lamborghini badge, expect it to have 600bhp and a 0-62mph time of around four seconds.

The new 4x4 follows in the footsteps of the V12-powered Lamborghini LM002 SUV, which was launched in 1986. It has been created in an effort to secure Lamborghini’s financial future, much as the Cayenne did for Porsche when it was first launched.

If it gets the go ahead, the Lamborghini Urus could be in showrooms as early as 2015, with prices similar to the Gallardo.

I came in here half-expecting a spiritual successor to the LM002. That...thing, is just a fancy way for soccer player's wives to get their kids to school, and Foofie to the dog spa.

great another useless SUV...those 25 profile tires wont stand a chance against a gravel parking lot let alone off road terrain. But then again most "modern" SUVS arent made for off road. I understand companies making luxury SUVS, but racecar looking and functioning SUVS are the most useless peices of turd.

This is what you call a SUV...

Next thing ya know, they'll be bringing us a 4-door hybrid that runs on kittens and unicorns.

Hehe 04-20-2012 10:15 PM

WTF is this shit?!?

Clearly VW has no idea what defined the LM002.

It was the most BADASS truck on road. V12 Engine, aggressive styling (in a more masculine, rambo kinda way) and built like a fucking tank (I met a gentleman in a gas station back in San Francisco driving one. Man, that door was heavy)

They should go back to the drawing board.

The only thing that matters is whether this will sell or not. Companies make what people are willing to buy after all, and paying customers vote with their wallets.

I don't think it looks that bad, but what did you expect from a sports car manufacturer? Purely a cash grab.

LP700-4 04-20-2012 10:37 PM

Looks kinda like an X6 with a Hamann kit

First thing I thought when I saw it.

Note the launch is in Beijing.

i wonder when people will stop equating SUV with offroad vehicles. especially luxury SUV. lol

the last luxury SUV that rolled off the lot with any offroad capability was the WJ grand cherokee in 2004 with quadradrive that came with a transfer case with a locking 4 low and solid axles with LSD front and rear.

Gridlock 04-21-2012 09:26 AM

The outside...is exactly what I'd expect.

But that interior? What the mother f?

This type of marble encrusted 80's design is what came to mind:

I like it

Although I think it's too nichey to make money. The cayenne works because even in base trim with the new V6 @60k it's reasonably competitive and cheap enough to be mass marketed but theres always the choice for "nichier" models. I'm not sure about this "to secure lamborghini's financial future" bs, I don't see many ppl paying the >200k price tag

Over9K 04-21-2012 06:13 PM

Ewww WTF

That is NOT a SUV.
