Thinking of buying a large cooler and throwing it in the crawl space for some aging

I've bought a few of the imperial stout and have a few very nice bottles of wine to keep long term, big cooler sitting in the dark dece way to keep them out of the way

I'd try my hand at cellaring beers but I would be afraid I would just end up drinking them all on a boring night and I am too lazy to go out.

PSA: Phillips Amnesiac comes in tallboy cans now, a great bargain for an awesome DIPA.

Also, a new local vancouver brewery that just opened late February is just hitting shelves everywhere from what I noticed, Bomber Brewing. I've tried their ESB and IPA, both solid. They also come in cans, which is rare for a new craft brewery (due to high cost of entry into a canning system) but it's typically cheaper for consumers and retains flavour and freshness better than bottles.

I've only been to Brassneck for growler fills, haven't sat down and drank there before however the sitting area looks casual and fun. Beer is solid but gets REALLY busy on weekends now.

Depending on what beer you feel like, I prefer Powell St. for my growler fills. They have less brews (IPA, Pale Ale standard, then usually stout or ESB on rotation) but much smaller and less busy so it is a quick in and out.

My favourite of the new breweries is Four Winds.

Their IPA is complex yet smooth and their limited releases have been outstanding.

I planned on cellaring a case of Hermannator but drank it in that style.

Tried 5 of their beers, all quite good. The tasting room is nice but small; gets filled up pretty quickly so sometimes there's a wait to get in.

I've been breaking out of the cycle of consistently buying the one range of beers recently.

I've got to say, Lighthouse's Switchback IPA is one of the standout best beers in BC. I'm shocked that it too me so long to try it. Tree Brewing's beers are also all excellent, and a number are available as tallboys so they're easy to try. I especially enjoyed their Cutthroat IPA.

I basically agree. Next to Hermannator, I think Tree's Vertical Winter is my favourite seasonal. I'm drinking Nelson Brewing Company's Paddywack IPA right now and it's really different. It's definitely not an American IPA, maybe an English IPA. The most prominent tastes are burnt sugar, caramel, wood, and smoke, although the hops are also apparent. It's very smooth and creamy. It doesn't fit my expectations of an IPA but it's very good. I would drink it on the regular in Fall/Winter.

Anyone have any great beers lately?

I liked Phillips Electric Unicorn and VIB's 30th Anniversary Imperial Red Ale, but I wasn't blown away by them.

Lol I'm not shitting you I bought both of those exact same beers together last week lol

Felt the same. Seems like it's kind of a trade mark of the imperials but they always seem to me like they have a stronger whiskey type aftertaste whether it be the red ale or the imperial stouts etc

Been really into the sessionals lately and less so on the heavy imperials or DIPA/TIPAs... Nice not having to worry about getting TOO hammered and hung over the next day...

Two favs are Phillips Bottle Rocket ISA and Main Street Brewing's Sessional IPA. Especially the latter, great hop flavour but refreshing and doesn't get you hammered.

I've been really enjoying the wave of india session ales, too. My go to is the Red Racer ISA. I tried the Coal Harbor 311 Helles. It's cheap at $13 for an 8 pack. It's also well-brewed. It's not for me though because the style is just too light. It's like watered down bud.

Had a Dageraad for the first time, their amber. Very, very good. Their blonde is supposed to be better.

I also tried Red Racer ISA yesterday, and really enjoyed it as well. Lots of hops at first, and finishes clean. Amazing flavour considering it's 4%. Quite the difference considering the 4.2% american swill I had to drink in Vegas last weekend.
