Any downside to maintaining a positive balance on a CC?

Like if I wanted to have just a basic card with a $500 credit limit, but dump, say, $1000 on it and try to keep the balance above 0... any drawbacks to doing this? Other than maybe, I'd get a little bit of interest keeping it in a savings account instead?

Nope, often I will dump a bunch money on my cc before a big trip just so that I don't dip into the red.

if you consistently maintain a credit balance, they will call you and go "WTF" and request that you let them increase the limit.

theres nothing wrong with maintaining a credit balance.
i do it all the time to pay off my card more than i spend, because id rather not accidentally forget to pay my card off and be hit by interest fees.

infact, its better to load up your card before going on vacation if you ask me.

I had a couple dollar balance (around $5) on my credit card, and I switched over to another bank without cancelling this card. After a few months of them sending me a statement saying "hey you have a $5 credit" it suddenly disappeared! The damn bank just sucked it up as a "service charge".
