B.C. advises citizens on surviving faux zombie attack with preparedness campaign

ICTORIA - If British Columbians are suddenly struck with an overwhelming need to eat brains, the province has cobbled together advice on how the living can fend off the zombies.

The B.C. government is hoping its fictional advice will generate interest in a set of social media tools that aim to help the public in real emergencies.

A blog tapping into the popular horror genre was launched this week on the Emergency Info BC website, and it's penned from the perspective of a citizen who finds her town infected with a strange virus.

She says she's able to remain "cool, calm and collected" by reading the government's emergency Twitter feed and blog.

The campaign is meant to get the public watching for real alerts and updates using the online tools, including Amber Alerts, earthquakes, avalanches, wildfires, floods and tsunamis.

All such disasters are indeed potential threats to the province, with the campaign launched during Emergency Preparedness Week to inform people on how to survive in almost any emergency situation.

I made a couple of these for bashing in skulls.

I train with a medicine ball on a rope so that I can use the maces more effectively. Good for the trapezius.

hahaha I almost forgot the zombie thread we had a while back.

Thanks for the reminder.

Should there be a zombie outbreak, I'd still stick with the same plan.

Everyone wants a zombie apocalypse; the crazies down south actually prepare for SHTF, WROL scenarios.

CorneringArtist 05-16-2012 12:45 AM

Zombie apocalypse :considered:...need to get my kit together. However, does anyone have a plan for a 28 Days Later style fast-moving Infected outbreak? All it takes is a group of silly hippies freeing Rage-infected monkeys to have shit hit the fan .

rsx 05-16-2012 05:59 PM

I'd fucking stay in my apartment fill my bathtub up with water and fucking wait for everyone to fuck each other up until I'm severely lacking food and water.

Everyone should have a stockpile of clean water and non-perishable food anyways, regardless of the threat. If something happens, then your local supermarket is more likely to become a free for all, and your chances of coming out unscathed is low.

First Aid kit is kind of a prerequisite, if you don't already have one in your home then I doubt that you'll learn anything from this anyway.

Gun(s) are not really mandatory for any kind of natural disaster that we can currently face, you just have to concentrate on surviving, not killing others. Note that "not mandatory" refers to the fact that you're living in an area where people aren't vicious to start with, you may need one if you live in an area where people eat eachother's faces even before a zombie invasion occurs.

However, in the event of an economic collapse, zombie invasion, or the release of a new Justin Bieber album, a gun is a wise investment if you know how to use one and respect the dangers that come with it. These events present a drastic change in society that can last much longer than a tsunami or a tornado, and your fellow citizens could turn against you in desperation.

Resist the urge to take the collection of porno that took you ages to compile with you, food before splooge as people who want to survive say.

Mr.HappySilp 06-04-2012 11:48 PM

Now what would you do if your wife/husband/kids/parents/brothers/sisters/br/gfs turns to a zombie in front of you?
