False start

Hey people, just wanted to know the legality of a false start. Pretty much rolling your car foward just before the light at the intersection turns green. Thanks in advance.

don't see why there would be any problem legally unless your car rolls into the intersection before it's green.

If you are turning right at a red light you may turn after coming to a complete stop first. You may not enter on a yellow in the circumstances you indicate. You must come to a complete stop at a stop sign, then proceed. In all these cases you must first make a legal stop back behind the line, crosswalk, sidewalk etc. You may only go past that line if you are legally permitted to do so.

In your case, if you have legally stopped behind the line for a red light, you may not proceed into the intersection until it is green.
"129 (1) Subject to subsection (2), when a red light alone is exhibited at an intersection by a traffic control signal, the driver of a vehicle approaching the intersection and facing the red light must cause it to stop before entering the marked crosswalk on the near side of the intersection, or if there is no marked crosswalk, before entering the intersection, and subject to the provisions of subsection (3), must not cause the vehicle to proceed until a traffic control signal instructs the driver that he or she is permitted to do so.

so you want to know if you can roll out before the green light?

1 - is light still red?
2 - is there a stop line on road?

if you answer both yes, then no you can no roll out until light turns green..

YOU can roll out if you still BEHIND the stop line!! so stop like 100ft behind the line and you can roll out all you want

the law is pretty simple.
If it's red, dont cross the line.
If its orange, you can cross the line;but, if it turns red while youre still in the middle of the intersection, you shouldn't have. The duration of the orange/yellow light is calculated based on the speed limit/distance of that intersection. afaik.

Green means go.
