Plus/minus is an awful stat to judge a player's defensive abilities by. It's basically useless. A +1 rating literally means fuck all. You have to look at the underlying stats..fenwick, corsi, etc.

At this point, it's easy to say the trade was dumb and management mishandled Hodgson.
Unless he's a one-hit wonder (like Grabner), I see we just traded away a NHL ready centerman.
Regardless how Kassian eventually pans out in a few years,
we gave up good talent while our Cup window is closing.

I do believe players should earn their role, but considering how well he's doing when given patience and ice-time,
it seems like he did earn more time than he deserved, and it was AV (or management) that fucked things up.
