5 players in 14 years. Yup, our drafting does suck.

RRxtar 03-27-2013 03:46 PM

2008 1 10 Cody Hodgson
2006 1 15 Michael Grabner
2005 1 10 Luc Bourdon
2005 2 51 Mason Raymond
2004 1 26 Cory Schneider
2004 3 91 Alexander Edler
2004 9 287 Jannik Hansen
2003 1 23 Ryan Kesler
2001 5 151 Kevin Bieksa
1999 1 2 Daniel Sedin
1999 1 3 Henrik Sedin

thats about it as far as notable draft picks go. doesn't help that we havent had an under 10 first round pick since the sedins. and our two easrliest picks were luc bourdon and coho both at 10

TPMarko 03-27-2013 03:50 PM

maybe its just a typo but daniel was actually a 2nd overall pick.

punkwax 03-27-2013 03:54 PM

Luc :QQ:

RRxtar 03-27-2013 04:02 PM

its interesting how retardedly deep the 03 draft year was. it was so deep that if you didn't get an all star you should be embarrased. yet in 04, after AO and malkin, edler might be one of the better picks, and we got 3 solid guys from that draft

Mike Oxbig 03-27-2013 04:09 PM

Edler was red wings pick we over heard a scout and stole him. Our scout still sucks.

Tim Budong 03-27-2013 04:14 PM

reports from twitter is that Iginla is a healthy scratch

Hm, so the question isn't when will a trade happen, now it's where is he off to?

Aw man, Iginla (a highly respected veteran), don't go to a douchey team like the Boston Bruins!

spideyv2 03-27-2013 04:30 PM

It's better for the Nucks if Iggy goes to the Bruins, as opposed to the Kings or Hawks

Either way, the Pens and Bruins are gonna be fucking stacked

All but one player in the first round of that 03 draft has played in the NHL. The lone exception is Hugh Jessiman, drafted 12th overall by the NYR, and passing players like Dustin Brown (13), Seabrook (14), Parise (17), Getzlaf (19!!!)

The first 2 rounds were deep, then after that it was your usual crapshoot. Quick trivia note: Brian Elliot was the second-to-last player to be picked at 291st overall

Just to reiterate, CGY has been asking for 3 elements: 1st round pick, top (signed/on the verge) prospect and a secondary prospect.
If Boston, I'm guessing they're asking for 1st, Khokhlachev and someone like Jared Knight/Craig Cunningham.

The two kids - Bartkowski and Khoklachev, plus a first-rounder - for Iginla. That's the scuttlebutt.
Further rumours. Hm, not sure about Bartowski. I hope that's not the trade.

Bobby Mac on TSN says Bartkowski, Khoklachev and 1st for Iginla is imminent according to sources close to the Bruins. Not confirmed, he says

Even Hugh Jessiman has played now. He played 2 games in 2010-11 season. :lol

That doesn't sound like a lot for Iggy. I consider myself a pretty big hockey fan and I've never heard of those 2. I'd tell Cherelli Dougie Hamilton for Iggy. Take it or leave it.

bballguy 03-27-2013 07:03 PM

Is Iginla really even that good anymore? Seems a little bit overrated at this point....

.....am I serious when I'm asking if he's really that good? Yes, why not? Completely valid question....quite possible that he's a bit overrated, especially at 35....

CRS 03-27-2013 07:21 PM

The return doesn't seem all that good.

When I saw the first rated prospect and the second, I was expecting so much more.
