I really hope we re-sign Tanev..He's got great potential, has proved to be a reliable piece of the defence and is not expensive

Too bad he doesn't

I like him as a second liner. Granted he has 6 points in 19 playoff games, look who he played for. The 09/10 Avs and the 2011-2013 Blues weren't exactly offensive teams.

Doesn't hurt that he's a big body and is hard to play against.

Talk about going out of the box to hire a new coach. Sportsnet reports that the Canucks are interested in interviewing Kings assistant coach John Stevens.

How does it seem? I've been kinda tempted to get one but it says that the they can disconnect the service at any time which make me second guess it.

Gillis is starting to scare me :heckno:

Ronin 06-10-2013 09:19 PM

Really? I thought of Stevens as a front runner. They just couldn't talk to him until the Kings were out.

Hondaracer 06-10-2013 09:22 PM

Yea, Stevens name has always been in the discussion

kristianhay 06-10-2013 09:38 PM

Out of all the coaches available at this point, I think Stevens is the front runner. He's done great work with the d-core in LA and has cup winning experience. Who else would you guys prefer - Arniel, Ruff, Gulutzan? No thanks.

Mike Oxbig 06-10-2013 10:19 PM

Boucher for assistant

Vancouver Canucks have permission to talk to Kings assistant coach John Stevens about their head coaching job. He's a quality guy.

Canucks and John Tortorella are talking. Is one of the strong candidates to replace Alain Vigneault. #RDS

Did anyone catch what TEAM was saying about Rollie? They made it sound all controversial? And that he might quit or something.

Wonder what the #Canucks think of their goalie coach Roland Melanson ripping Carey Price in an article in New Brunswick.

Canadiens' former goalie coach says Carey Price has deteriorated

Quote:

Carey Price's former goaltending coach says the Montreal Canadiens netminder has become progressively worse over the last few seasons due to bad guidance.

Roland Melanson, who is the current goaltending coach with the Vancouver Canucks, told L'Acadie Nouvelle — a French daily newspaper in New Brunswick — that Price has been in decline since Melanson left Montreal in 2009.

'Carey hasn't stopped deteriorating since I left. He's all over the place now. At some point, there has to be some accountability in the school yard. The position requires a lot of work and Carey hasn't been consistent.'
—Price's former goalie coach Roland Melanson
"Carey hasn't stopped deteriorating since I left. He's all over the place now," said Melanson in a report posted Monday. "At some point, there has to be some accountability in the school yard. The position requires a lot of work and Carey hasn't been consistent. He let things slide in practice and it caught up to him during games."

Despite finishing the regular season first in the Northeast Division, Price and the Canadiens struggled down the stretch. The 25-year-old was pulled from back-to-back starts and went 2-6-0 in his last eight appearances, allowing 27 goals.

Price's woes continued in the first round of playoffs as Montreal was eliminated in five games by Ottawa. Backup Peter Budaj started Game 5 and allowed six goals.

Last week the Canadiens fired Melanson's successor, goaltending coach Pierre Groulx — the only member of the coaching staff kept on when Michel Therrien was named head coach for the 2012-13 season.

According to Melanson, Groulx allowed Price to develop bad habits.

"He wanted to be his friend. A goalie doesn't want you to be his friend — he wants results. You're not there to be his friend."

I thought Eakins would be a good fit here, but also see the appeal of going to Edmonton. However they still have no defense and goaltending, you can't win at this level without either of these components. If I'm an Oilers fan I would be a bit leery of the organization process. How many teams currently have coaching vacancies? How many teams have fired and hired a new head coach within a week's time?

Good on MG for sitting this one out and taking his time to find the right guy, even if it means losing a quality candidate. Seems his process is similar to most logical thinking GM's in his position

Fuck Torts.
If that guy gets the job in Vancouver, all hell will break loose. He is going to drive the talent away.

That was a bit of a crazy move by Melanson. I mean, ripping into a guy in the media is one thing, but it's also a career limiting move when you're currently employed by the Canucks.

Even crazier is the CHL banning European goalies.
Xenophobia, meet hockey.

Gumby 06-11-2013 09:04 AM

Fuck Boston. They keep on playing the underdog card, when they're not even a fucking underdog team to begin with!

Thought I'd never say this, but go Chicago!

Torts! He has a great résumé and has a ring. Please sign him

From what I understand, Carey Price's issues stem from all the attention he gets in a hockey mad market and the nightlife lifestyle.
