Ditto. Perhaps both of us being here for over 10 years affected our ability to comprehend what was wrong.
RS Staff, my feedback to you:
- How many people wanted to respond to something, got the same message and said "ahh fuck it"?
- How does this affect the ability of your users to sell their products?
- Is this generic response clear to the potential purchaser?
"Roach, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."
To me, I thought I had been banned, suspended or otherwise. I've been here for 11 years. How do you expect your newer users to know?
I understand that the purpose of this restriction is to avoid chatter, excessive bumping etc.
However, as a counterpoint, I would like to say that seeing discussion about a particular vehicle or item helps the end-user add clarity or answer questions that other potential buyers may be thinking of. What if someone lists a car without stating whether it's manual or automatic transmission? The seller could answer 10 PM's or simply answer a common question in their thread.
Furthermore, when potentially purchasing an item I have often seen another respected, long-time member vouch for a particular item. This support aids the sale and the seller's credibility. That value is lost.
As mentioned, some general feedback. I respect your guys' decision regardless.
