Returning vehicle to dealership
 

Hi guys

Ok here's what's happening,my gf wanted to return a vehicle she recently purchased(not even a month of ownership and haven't started paying aside from the down payment) because she's not happy with the vehicle and I couldn't find the return policy in the agreement contract..is there any website I can look it up regarding this situation or any of you guys had any experience like this?..any info would be greatly appreciated..thanks in advance revscene

Did she agreed to get the "protection package" and a "professional detailing" done by Richmond Subaru?

Its not a lemon it's actually a pretty nice car...she's comPlaining about tpms light on and it's the second time now and they said it was ok the first time she brought it in and now the light came back for some reason...I know it's not a big deal and I told her that but her mind is set about wanting to return it back...

honestly, what car is this?

sensor faulty or your tires leaking air?

check all tire pressures and if its okay, its probably a faulty sensor which should be covered in the warranty. also like what others have posted, what kinda car is it?

so it's a used car then? it's possible that the sensor is faulty or that the sensor is out of batteries. Just bring it in under warranty :) As far as returning, good luck.

It seems Tpms are more of problem and less of a solution since the majority of people dont even know what to do when the light comes on.

It's only a TPM issue. The first time around they probably checked your Tire pressure and reset the TPM. Small warranty issue, no way the dealership will entertain any sort of return or car exchange.

Depending on the dealer there should be a 7 day exchange period...since you say its almost been a month then you're out of luck.

Also she wants to return it over a faulty TPMS sensor, get it fixed under warranty, simple...

Yeah, because CLEARLY a dealership will take a car back at a loss because your TPMS don't work. HAHAHAHA.

It's pretty straight forward... she signed a legally binding contract when she bought the car.

There are only two possible scenarios under which you can force the dealership to take the car back:

#1, the car is not what they described (legally). This is not "they said it was a 1-owner, I found out it had 2 owners", this is "They did not disclose any damage and I found a $8600 claim on the vehicle".

#2, the contract has a clause in it that allows for a refund. (HIGHLY unlikely).

Barring these two things, the bottom line is you are at their mercy. If they decide to take it back you should thank heaven and Earth and tell every single one of your friends what a great dealership they are because they certainly have no reason to and most wouldn't.

They didn't sell your girlfriend a bad car, she just changed her mind. That's great but it's not the dealerships fault and there is certainly no legal backing for a change of opinion.

TPMS problem and want a return on a certified pre owned....?

if its not a leaking tire and just a faulty sensor, theyd replace the sesor at most.

a car is not like buying a t-shirt at costco.. you won't be able to 'return it'.. sorry. rather just get the tpms fixed.

Check the tire pressure first. Maybe there is a slow leak on one of the tires. If the pressure are good, the tpms might need to be reset. There's also a possibility that the car is not registered with the tpms on the car. I know that because that happen wihen I run on winter tires.

Hope u guys bought some sort of used car/aftermarket warranty. But in most cases there'll be a deductible with those stuff. Might as well get the light checked out again & see if u need to replace that TPMS sensor.

Thank God u guys aren't getting something like a CEL with oxygen sensor, ABS sensor or mis-firing issue or something. Even there is, there isn't much u can do without warranty. Dealership cannot foresee issues on a used vehicles so can't blame them.
