15K Budget, what used car would you get?

Hey guys, I'm looking for a car and have got a 15k budget. I've got 3 requirements.

1) No Ghetto cars
2) V8 or 0-60 under 6 seconds. (without mods)
3) not 350z

I've got the following cars in my mind right now, 03 e500, clk500, C5 corvette, Boxster S. Let me know what you guys think is best.

Thanks

G35 coupe or C5. The Benzes you listed are gonna come with bills..

Any of the cars he listed will come with bills or ones in the near future...

In other words, unless you have money saved up for repair bills, you might want to rethink your purchase plan.

BUUUUUUT just so I'm not coming across as a total douche: GTI VR6 or 1.8T. Stock 0-60 is just over 6 seconds.

ree666 07-06-2012 12:13 AM

s2000

Exactly, which is why trying to be baller on a budget really bleeds immaturity. Of the cars listed, I would get the C5 because it will likely be the least expensive to fix when it breaks down.

That said, none of the cars listed I would give a moments consideration.

An S2000 is probably the best sporty car in that price range, an E36 M3 a close second.

Yup. You can buy an old Ferrari 308 for 30k, but have fun keeping it running. The Benzes he listed are the worst on the list though, I'd say even more demanding than the Boxster.

skylinergtr 07-06-2012 12:23 AM

bmw 330i - e46 chassis.

some are less than 15k, then at that point you are able to keep up with the maintenance or do a few cosmetic mods.

im hoping to get one of these as a solid DD later down the road...

Manic! 07-06-2012 12:33 AM

Honda Civic. Don't try to ball with a 15K car.

swfk 07-06-2012 12:36 AM

+1 for S2000 and E36 M3 afterwards for a Baller lol

I can easily afford the maintenance for any of the cars listed it's just something temporary till I get something more better. I wouldn't even mind the maintenance of the 03 745i but the front looks too outdated. I just need something to take me from point a to b while having fun.

I'm not into 4 cylinder engines with no torque and I can easily afford the maintenance.

dinamix 07-06-2012 12:46 AM

2002-up subaru wrx or sti

kwy 07-06-2012 12:47 AM

If maintenance isn't a problem and you're looking for cheap thrills, I'd go with the C5. hard to find a car more fun than a convertible C5 Vette for 15k. I own a C4 Vette, and even the older model is quite fun and fast.

This looks somewhat promising..

1998 corvette convertable

If I get a C5 I'll import it from the U.S it's alot cheaper over there for some reason but ya the torque in that car would be awesome.

Type R, S2000, WRX or STi

BlueSedanRUS 07-06-2012 02:03 AM

I'd be willing to bet that a C5 Vette would be the same or less to maintain than a 1.8T or VR6...

A guy at work bought a US import '04 C5 ZO6 for something like 22k (A local dealer imported it), and only 30,000 miles on the clock.

405 horsepower for $22k? Yes please!

tofu1413 07-06-2012 08:45 AM

so many rhd cars you can pick... if you wanted to.

could even buy a spare car for parts.

belaud 07-06-2012 08:47 AM

Have you considered leasing? If you just wanted to keep it stock and stick with it for a few years, leasing sounds like a good plan for you.

CharlieH 07-06-2012 09:19 AM

can't take OP's name seriously lol

Gridlock 07-06-2012 09:26 AM

You are never going to touch a decent C5 in Vancouver for 15k. Did a quick search on CL and the nearest I found was some nice 92/93s
