went to hk, macau, singapore, malaysia and japan (for the 2nd time) few months ago. camera was stuck at f1.4 aperture so pictures didn't turn out the best plus it was my first time using a manual focus lens. i have a lot of pictures from hk and japan so i'll post them up in parts. part 1 from hk and part of macau for now.

amazing satay broth

assorted innards on the street in mongkok

razor clams. wish we had these in vancouver...the sweetness is amazing. ate this all (and picked it live too) at cheun kee restaurant in sai kung

"la liu ha" / pissing shrimp / mantis shrimp. amazing seafood that i haven't seen here yet (ive only seen it served as shako at sushi restaurants)

macau's famous "chu pa pau"

macau's also famous portuguese egg tarts

great stinky tofu in mongkok. u can smell it half a km away. thats when u know its good

stewed innards. amazing with hot sauce

the char siu and siu yok in hk is amazing compared to vancouver imo.

claypot frog

place famous for their "bolo yau" in mongkok.

You guys are all making me fuggin jealous. I'm stuck in Ottawa and head a beaver tail..In general,
Is Japan really that expensive for dining out? Obviously you went to some first class diners, but what about their medium range selection? Say, $30 per head. Is this doable?

the incredible thing i found about japan is that you can get a fantastic meal for 10 bucks or for 1000 bucks. You have do to your research before hand, and gotta know some basic Japanese. The best places are often a run down place, in an alley. You gotta know where you're looking before hand.

I thought you guys might be able to help me out as I didn't want to make a sole thread for my question.

I'm currently living in Japan and will be heading to Tokyo next week. While the food here has been amazing to say the least, I really can't seem to find Chinese food comparable to what is available in Vancouver. Good Yum Cha is even harder to find.

Anyone know a good Dim Sum place in Tokyo or Yokohama? I know Yokohama has a Chinatown but even the Chinese food there may be a bit more Japanese.

^ I know I'm not helping much but our Chinese food is some of the best in the world. I have been all over (not to Asia yet) and it's really hard to find the quality I have for the prices we pay.

IMO we probably have some of the best indian food in the world but I've never been to India or anywhere that has a large Indian population outside of Surrey.
