Samsung launches first retail store. Located in Metrotown

Wednesday’s opening of a Samsung store in Burnaby’s Metropolis at Metrotown marks a North American first for the South Korean tech giant that is locked in a battle with Apple for supremacy in the growing mobile market.

The store launch comes as the company celebrates its latest patent victory over Apple’s attempt to block sales of Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus smartphones; its phone sales have driven the company to a record $9.5 billion US quarterly profit and its newest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S III is flying off the shelves.

Does this mean if your mobile device fucks up and it's under warranty, you can just swap for a new one like Apple Customer Care?

I hate waiting for RMA and you are stuck with a crappy loaner phone for two weeks.

at a quick glance, I thought I was looking at the Apple Store pics :suspicious:

Time to bring it in for my scratched bezel!

mmmk 07-12-2012 10:37 AM

Located right by Purdy's at Metrotown!

Meowjin 07-12-2012 10:46 AM

Huh, I thought they had one in aberdeen?

BaoTurbo 07-12-2012 10:46 AM

Heard on the radio yesterday. This is a pretty big move by Samsung IMO. I think it was about time too

Not sure about aberdeen but they have their own front inside Memory Express Richmond that launched in the spring.

I had the opportunity to go last week and it is very very nice inside. They have various laptops on display including the new ultrabooks. Their slate is there too running Windows 7 for now. Lots of Galaxy Notes and S3. They have two TVs on display with people demonstrating AllShare once in a while.

Overall it's not a bad shop. The prices are slightly higher than other places like FS/BB though.

Apparently they are funded by a wireless corporation? Or at least from what I heard. Someone said Glentel.

I'd say it's about time. Samsung has definitely grown a hell of a lot in the past few years. It'll be nice if their "Genius Bar" works like Apple's. One of the few things I dislike about Samsung is, as voiced already, the RMA process.

optiblue 07-12-2012 02:18 PM

blue shirts at the samsung store as well eh?

tiger_handheld 07-12-2012 02:39 PM

Looks a lot like apple store. I'm going to be confused. Apple should sue Samsung for design/concept infringement so consumers will not be confused. :troll:

dachinesedude 07-12-2012 02:43 PM

about damn time indeed!

their product line-up is so amazing nowadays, def needs their own store to show it off

FerrariEnzo 07-12-2012 02:46 PM

So its a big Box Store... they are competing not only against Apple, but BestBuy and Futureshop, etc...

The Microsoft store looks exactly like the Apple Store as well except it isn't bright as fuck.

Did they have the quad-core international version?

b0unce. [?] 07-12-2012 04:58 PM

^ they told me they did

The colour blue is actually important when choosing a colour. Studies show that people wearing blue are perceived as more friendly, helpful, dependable, and trustworthy. And before Apple wasn't the first store to have blue uniformed employees (think Best Buy).

PiuYi 07-12-2012 05:27 PM

don't know why everyone is ripping on samsung for copying Apple

Apple came up with genius ideas, but as a consumer, the last thing I'd want is for Apple to be my only choice

Meowjin 07-12-2012 05:58 PM

Not this shit again.
