| 2012 Honda Civic
My girlfriend's mom is looking for a sedan. She's thinking about the Honda Civic right now, and she prefers a new car. I'm trying to convince her to buy something used, but she doesn't trust used cars...
Well anyways, we went to the Honda dealership and the total price after everything is about 27,000 for new 2012 Honda Civic EX Sedan.
I don't know about you, but I wouldn't spend 27k on a Civic...
Found this on craigslist. 1200km, so basically a new car... http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rd...139443143.html
What's the difference from this and if we bought from Honda? 10k difference... Maybe no financing?

Difference between the two?
One is backed by Honda Canada, and one...is from King George. 'Nough said.
The price for a 2012 Honda Civic EX Auto:
MSRP + tax + everything: $25,264.20
Unless the dealership added some kind of crazy mark-up....or you added some accessories, I'm not sure why it would be $27k..
Civic from Spring Auto Sales:
- possibility it might be imported from USA
- highly doubt they will sell it you at $16,900
- most likely they did not include tax into that price
It's currently July...and new 2013 models are coming soon.
I'm pretty sure Honda Canada will be hosting some kind of promotion/clearance
very shortly in these few weeks. Saving you another $1-2k

The Civic from Spring Auto is probably a rebuilt which is reflected by the price.

Over the years, I've found that when it comes to regular consumers, if they already have a car in mind that they want to purchase, it is best not to persuade them to consider something else. Most of the time, this type of people are really just looking for some sort of confirmation from a car guy to give them that seal of approval. If you really persuaded them into buying something else and that something else runs into problems, you will now be held responsible for it. On the other hand, if the car runs flawlessly, they will rarely come back to thank you.
I would just lay out the facts about the pros and cons of the Honda Civic EX, and at least take them to take a look at one or 2 other cars (eg. Mazda3, Elantra, Focus, Impreza). Then I'll just let them decide on their own.
But personally, the interior of the current Civic feels so cheap that I can't understand why anyone would choose that over, say, the Mazda3 or Elantra.

Yeah I guess you're right about how I shouldn't persuade her. She tried a Hyundai, I think the Accent, and felt like the throttle response was slow. But the Civic was better in that department. Eh, I guess I'll leave her alone, unless you guys can fork up a way to get the Civic at a better price. :P
