check your dns records for your domain |

Your domain isn't pointing to anything. I doesn't look like it's setup correctly. Do you have a hosting plan in addition to your domain name? |
^ Yes I do with directhosting.ca |
there should be a dns manager somewhere on your domain page. Where you have the 'ftp' record pointing to, is not to the correct ip. Your '@' record is not even pointing to the correct place either i believe since i can't even resolve ericchow.me |
1 Attachment(s) Is this what I'm looking for? |
did you buy your domain from directhosting as well? |
No, I bought it from namesforcheap. |
dns manager would be at namesforcheap |

Did you even bother Googling? |
Still getting the same error. |
Seems ok to me now that you've fixed your nameservers: Pinging ftp.ericchow.me [67.213.73.27] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 67.213.73.27: bytes=32 time=99ms TTL=48 Reply from 67.213.73.27: bytes=32 time=82ms TTL=48 Reply from 67.213.73.27: bytes=32 time=91ms TTL=48 Reply from 67.213.73.27: bytes=32 time=99ms TTL=48 Ping statistics for 67.213.73.27: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 82ms, Maximum = 99ms, Average = 92ms ftp> open To ftp.ericchow.me Connected to ftp.ericchow.me. 220---------- Welcome to Pure-FTPd [privsep] [TLS] ---------- 220-You are user number 1 of 50 allowed. 220-Local time is now 13:18. Could be your ISP lagging behind on the nameserver change. According to google filezilla can't resolve your domain name. Tempoarily try using 67.213.73.27 in place of ftp.ericchow.me and see if it connects. The port is blank. I'm not sure if it matters as I don't use filezilla but it should be 21. |
Which ftp do you use? I don't mind switching, I just used FireZilla because it's free. |
filezilla defaults to 21 unless you have it different on the server end then you would put in the port # |
I see we have some fellow web admins here :P |
Update: when uploading the wordpress files, I keep on getting a "too many connections from this IP". Filezilla is the only program I'm running. Ideas? |
It could be the FTP server only allows single connections to it. Filezilla, by default, has 2 simultaneous transfers enabled. Go to Settings > Transfers. Change Maximum simultaneous transfers to 1. |
Same error as before: Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... Response: 421 Too many connections (4) from this IP Error: Could not connect to server Status: Delaying connection for 5 seconds due to previously failed connection attempt... |
Is it worth it to redirect my Wordpress.com blog to my new blog for $10 a year? |
