Agreed. I am surprised the tech did not get out of the car at that instant, I would have and I am sure most people would if it was their own car. The tech should have stopped the car that backed into him, checked the car for damages, and gotten the plate and DL for good measure.

Should not be up to the customer to "catch" what occurred. Luckily the OP had a cam setup, without it, could have been a 'he said', 'she said' situation.

Thanks for sharing. Now I know...going forward I'll always check when dropping off and picking up the car...

Eff-1 07-25-2012 12:07 PM

Screw them. Once the collision occurred, we can either assume that a) the tech chose not to tell the service advisor or b) the service advisor knew but chose not to tell you.

Either way, both are completely inexcusable. Who cares if they agree to fix your car only after you showed them video footage which you were lucky to have. That's the least they could do.

Kingsway Honda. Poor show.

you can rest assure that if that happened at our dealership, those guys would be toast within the hour of the offense.:)
We take our customer service very seriously. :)

And what do brand new cars become?

Thats right. Customer's cars. :rukidding:

Wow that's the closest Honda dealership to my home, thankfully I've never brought my current Honda nor my previous two Honda/Acuras there.

:suspicious:

i agree

little hairline scratch like that would not be caused by a bump, though there is a possibility the tech had cleaned up/polished the possible scrape..

imo, OP should post pictures of the "crack".

i work at a dealer myself and if anybody nudged me like so it seemed in the video i'd react like any other person would in that situation, be it a customer car, inventory car or even my own car : stop the car and look at the damage ON BOTH CARS, and report it even if there was any damage at all.

An incident like that would cost somebody their job at a dealership. It's general dealership etiquette, especially being a technician.. it is better safe than sorry. In other words : Own up to your shit!

thank god someone else sees what i see. in the video it's pretty inconclusive if there was ever even impact and who in their right mind would just let the guy drive off?

There is a faint silver scuff mark caused by the other civic, however it blends in a bit considering that both cars are silver. Dont know if the tech had tried cleaning it up. Depending on the lighting, it can be really noticeable. I would get a better pic but its hard because i only have a nokia camera phone with 5 megapixels.

In that picture, thats the "crack" in the paint and not a "scratch". If for whatever reason you still dont believe me, i can show anyone my bumper in person before Monday. I also work at a dealership and i totally agree with you.

SpeedStars 07-26-2012 12:04 PM

That silver civic...:rukidding:

I believe that may be the paint cracking due to the bending of the front bumper? It looks like a scratch in the picture though, but I doubt it would be since your car did get bumped pretty hard. If they agree to buff it out for you and own up to it, it'll be all good.

lowside67 07-26-2012 03:01 PM

Are there really a lot of Honda dealerships with residential apartments on top of them!?! Lol... clearly it is Kingsway Honda. If you didn't want to bring any attention to them, you wouldn't have posted this thread in the first place...

Harvey Specter 07-26-2012 03:16 PM

Just wondering but doesn't the Honda dealerships have a rep walk around your car and mark any existing damage and make you sign a form acknowledging you did a walk around before taking your car in for servicing?

Energy 07-26-2012 03:24 PM

Don't think Honda dealerships do that...

JSALES 07-26-2012 03:44 PM

I thought all techs do a walk around of the customer's vehicle just in case the customer tries to put shit on them

Yup thats a paint crack from the nudge. To be honest, i wouldnt be satisfied if theyre "buffing" it out. I doubt you can even buff out a paint crack? I'll only be satisfied if its fixed properly.

Correct me if im wrong, but most dealerships dont do that, unless their a private one. The dealership i work at, we only report big/medium damages that catches our eyes on fairly new cars while on the hoist or being washed.

i-vtecyo 07-26-2012 04:25 PM

oops double post.

Harvey Specter 07-26-2012 04:40 PM

All BMW dealerships do it.

AW607 07-26-2012 09:53 PM

I used to work at an Audi dealership as a lot guy, the service advisors always do walk-arounds before the car gets handed over

Yup. But Honda =/= BMW. All places should do this to avoid he said she said situations.

alex.w *// 07-26-2012 10:02 PM

that seriously looks like someone try to remove or install the screw and the screwdriver slipped and scratched the paint.

no joke.

I've never been to a Honda dealership that does it. Rental companies, yes. But not Honda...
