Canadian tire liquidation

Hey guys don't know if this is the right section but a close friend of mine told me about a fire that was at a warehouse in Calgary. The warehouse is owned by Canadian tire. Able auctions bought over 4 million dollars worth of there inventory and is now selling it at 75% off retail. Dates are as follows

July 26-28 I've included info from the website

Flyer - Able Auctions

HondaGuy 07-24-2012 12:03 AM

Wow, lotsa selections...might worth checking out...thanks!

DanHibiki 07-24-2012 12:06 AM

must check this out. july 28?

TOPEC 07-24-2012 01:09 AM

website says 50% off, video says 75% off... so which is it?

Sky_High 07-24-2012 01:47 AM

Website said both:

Quote:

NOTE: THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION, IT WILL BE A LIQUIDATION STORE IN OUR WAREHOUSE, ITEMS WILL BE 75% OFF MARKED RETAIL PRICES, FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED!
Quote:

As a result, Able Auctions will sell this massive inventory valued at over $4 Million at 50% off - first come first served. Remaining items will be sold by way of auction in dealer lots.
Like IKEA's ASIS, obviously not every item will be 75% off. So most likely items are ranged between 50-75% off?

Awesome :D

I hope this is a little better than the 70% sale at the Kingway location, LOLOLOLOLOL.

J/K, I'll be there. You can count on it. This is what we frugal Asians live for.

WTF.. able auctions bough all that crap, transported it back here to sell??! they must of picked it up for cheap to cover transport fees... :suspicious:

If I had to guess, I would suspect part of the sale was that it can't all be dumped in one location. You'd cannibalize sales for CTC in that city for months to come.

Gridlock 07-24-2012 07:33 AM

And yes, transport adds up. A client of mine bought an estate book collection for 20k...spent 40k to transport it here...spent more money hiring a college kid to sort through it in the basement of the building.

I asked him once how he made out in sales of books....$1500...gross. Apparently, it was an estate collection of total crap.

I have large shippments shipped across Canada and the US all the time and your customer got beyond screwed if they spent 40K to transport it.

+1

I don't even spend $100/skid to ship my crap to the next province over :lol

Gridlock 07-24-2012 09:01 AM

I was in transportation myself and yeah, I did the math.

They also had to have people load books. Out of a house. By hand.

Gridlock 07-24-2012 09:12 AM

Oh, and you are picking the ONE area he got screwed? He spent 60k, and made back $1500. I think the entire affair goes down as one big colossal fuck up ;)

hotjoint 07-24-2012 09:20 AM

I'm looking for a tent. Gonna go and check this out. Wouldn't mind getting a new hockey stick either

Well buying the books to flip 'em is a gamble, especially if it's sight unseen. At least freight is something you can control. ;)

But yeah, that's one giant lesson learned, I'll bet.

lilaznviper 07-24-2012 11:14 AM

damn working on the 26 working on the 27 by the 28th all the good stuff would be gone...

Well, I'm not working, so I will be there bright and early. What sort of stuff are you looking for?

Don't tell me........... a wrench set, LOL.

J/K Let me know what you need and I'll see if they have it.

KingDeeCee 07-24-2012 05:29 PM

MG, I'm looking for a new blender, but probably won't be able to get there on the first day. I doubt people will be rushing to get those anyways. Would you kindly let me know how much they are priced at when you get back? :D

If I knew you guys, then I'd offer, but alas, I don't know you guys from a hole in the wall, or the other way around. Sorry..........

I guess I can take pics and upload them.

I imagine the larger ticketed items or specific lots will be up for auction. I will post details as soon as I find out.

murd0c 07-24-2012 05:52 PM

Fuck this has to happen when I'm going to AZ and Vegas :(

Sky_High 07-24-2012 06:13 PM

MG1 07-24-2012 06:24 PM

What would my son say, if I gave you a ride and not him. August 25th, LOL.
