Time to pull out the ol' brick:

http://midlifecrisishawaii.com/wp-co...cell_phone.jpg

Someone wants to grab that, they aren't gonna get anywhere very fast lugging all that extra weight.

snails 07-25-2012 08:59 AM

any decent iPhone tracking apps? only problem that i see with it... thief just delete the app -.- unless you app is hidden somehow, apple doesn't give permission to any 3rd party to do anything like that, and if its jail broken it can be restores to factory by pressing a button.

Only way to not have you phone stolen is to hold onto it, never lent my phone, or lost it in my life, also! password is good to have! we all got things we don't want the world to see

c3m 07-25-2012 09:40 AM

^Apple has Find My iPhone app
App Store - Find My iPhone

I can't imagine anyone with a good enough reason for using a smartphone without a password. That's like not locking your car and house.

And sometimes holding on to it won't work. There has been a few cases where people pretty much got rob. It's grab and go for those robs and if you resist they'll either hit your head or wrist.

Limitless 07-25-2012 09:49 AM

Though it's kind of obvious, another hint.. if you're a girl, don't leave your phone in your bag and then just leave the bag lying around at a house party. Keep it either in your car out of sight and locked up, or get the host of the party to lock it up in a room or something with other bags. My girlfriend lost her iPhone 4S at a house party because the people there all knew each other and no one thought anything would get stolen at a small party like that. Phone was in the bag, bag was on the couch. Next thing you know, phone and cash were gone :/

sort of agree but more cause i think its rude when you're eating with people and they're constantly playing with their phones on the table.
i dont think most people do it to show off because even people with phones a few years old often do this.
i just leave it in my pocket. its not the most comfortable but i dont like putting all my valuables on the table.

kwy 07-25-2012 10:21 AM

No one does it to show off..every one from 12 to 60 has a damn smartphone nowadays. Everyone puts it on the table..force of habit. When you're at a table with friends, you'd figure it's safe. The only thing that's going to happen is your fb status will change to "I'm gay."

AzNightmare 07-25-2012 11:44 AM

lol, you guys need to stop wearing those homo low riser, tight leg hugging jeans.
Unless you're a girl, gtfo.

Those pants got woman size Jean pockets, which is why you guys are having problems putting phones in the pocket.
Which is why women never put phones (or anything) in their pockets, and instead, use their purse or bag.

Only reason something would be uncomfortable in your pocket is if you are using the ass pockets, but why would anyone be putting their most valuable things (including wallets) in the back pocket.... The easiest pocket to get picked, where your eyes can't even see...

:suspicious:

Nevermind the discomfort of when sitting down. It's never comfortable having a phone or wallet in the back pockets.

SpeedStars 07-25-2012 12:02 PM

Got my phone stolen once at PNE :okay:
Called me back the next day; wanted $10 for it back :suspicious:
Was lined up next to the guy when waiting for bumper cars :concentrate:
Paid $10 for it back :ahwow: bastard broke my battery charger cover... It was a Motorola RAZR...hot shit back then. Put my phone in zipped pockets now :fullofwin:

Is that app good against Sim card swaps?
pretty useless if it isn't

the better tracking apps on android allows you to hide the app..or at least set passwords on it before being able to uninstall it

I've no problem sitting down with a 4.65" phone in my pocket...just dont buy skinnyjeans and you are fine :troll:

it uses Apple ID instead of phone number.
Here's the link for more information

Here's how

twitchyzero 07-25-2012 09:02 PM

can anyone confirm if Fido can blacklist phones by apple ID/IMEI?
I know this was the case with big 3 a while back..and since fido is under rogers i would assume so but my friend said he asked the rep who said nope...but he's a sales rep so just confirming here with the more knowledgeable folks

mb_ 07-25-2012 09:04 PM

If I remember correctly they can only blacklist an IMEI if it's stolen from a distribution center

Edit: Yup http://www.revscene.net/forums/60431...ed-phones.html

My sister is careless like that. I snatch her phone when we go shopping and she leaves it on TOP of her bag or a chair or somewhere very public. :lawl: I let her freak out a bit before I return it. "and THAT is why you don't leave your phone around like that"

Here's the link for more information
Apple (Canada) - iCloud - Find your missing Apple device.

Here's how
"FIND MY iPHONE" - How to locate your iPhone 4,4s using PC or MAC - YouTube

all they gotta do is rip your sim card out and that feature doesnt work.

CP.AR 07-26-2012 10:14 AM

For Android users:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...51bGwsMSwyLDNd

Also great if you ever misplace your phone in the house and phone is on silent...

It's also linked to Google account on the phone, not sim card
lets you take pictures, gps location, ring, forward calls, remotely access your files, and of course... wipe
You can also use the remote file access to seriously screw up the phone.

No sim card still works but phone needs Wifi to be able to track. So yes technically the phone needs sim card for data. Unless the phone is constantly connected to wifi

StylinRed 07-26-2012 12:09 PM

glad im a nokia fan no one will want my phones :D

BrRsn 07-26-2012 01:26 PM

just look like you're pissed off and looking for a fight 24/7, no thief will even think of approaching you and women will flock to you and your alpha-male like 'don't fuck with me im a tiger inside a man's clothing' attitude.

Psykopathik 07-26-2012 01:33 PM

try Cerberus for android. remote wipe, lock, sound a siren, take photos and video all remotely and emailed to you. someone tries to crack your lock code, takes a pic automatically and emails you.

send a blaring alarm and message to thief at 3AM just for fun.

and of course GPS tracking functions galore.

spyker 07-26-2012 01:38 PM

I have never lost a phone or had one stolen from me,just use common sense, you would not leave $500 on the table for everyone to see or let some stranger hold it.

I don't let strangers use my phone, don't care what their excuse is.I don't even let hot girls use my phone when they ask,I don't know them and who knows what number they might be calling,it could be the dopeman or their pimp for all I know....also I have no idea where their hands have been or how filthy their face/ear is.

Agreed 100%

Psykopathik 07-26-2012 02:36 PM

note: people who are EXTREMELY insistant they need a phone, are usually trouble. make the call for them. if they cant live with that, walk away.
