What is up with Korea? Those new tourism commercials are terrible. Why would anyone want to go to Korea after seeing this?

Let's enjoy Touch Korea Tour TV commercial!! (TH ver.) - YouTube

seeing as teh caption is in some asian language, im guessing that their target for that video at least is people in their 20-30s looking to have a good time and experience the 'korean wave' : stars, cosmetics, k-pop, shopping , traditional korean stuff etc.

Asian idols don't even need to go to the US. The only reason Kpop is here is because of try hard nation branding and sheep followers so Korea can improve their image abroad.

black kid with the tie dye shirt is smart lol

White kids are so oblivious and think they are the center of the universe : AMERICA

yray 07-25-2012 11:56 AM

they don't go abroad because when they do, it becomes this

If you mute the sound and cover the music video, you probably would have thought they were watching a man get beheaded with a shovel. Why are they so uncomfortable over a bunch of azn people doing choreographed break-dancing?

If I new about kpop why would they have to try to entice me to go to Korea. I saw the ad on CNN with out the Arabic writing. If I am going to fly all the way to Asia my first thought is not going to be about clubbing.

That ain't Arabic it's some random Asian language probably Thailand.

People who don't leave their surroundings tend to think they are the center of the universe.. Not only caucasians, but asians, africans etc?

The majority of Aussies and Kiwis don't leave their island state in their lifetime, they tend to be xenophobic.. not to mention Japan, Korea and the majority of the population in China.

Look at enclaves like Richmond, Quebec etc. Tons of people think rest of Canada is like just like their neighbourhood.

Just be grateful that we are in Canada and we have the freedom to travel and experience different cultures and places.

Not sure about people in Japan. Perhaps pre-Meiji. They know more about the rest of the world than Americans or Canadians do.

Verdasco 07-25-2012 09:43 PM

Asian Stars dont need to leave asian... the market is huge already there and they make tons of money..

mos_skeeto 07-25-2012 11:48 PM

Utada tried once or twice. She's huge in Japan but can't get a better time slot than 6am on CBS. She did some stuff with Sephora cosmetics to promote her cd but not sure how well she did.

BoA had an english cd as well

Off topic a lil, Crystal Kay is a featured artist on the latest Far East Movement cd. She's black/korean speaks perfect english and sings in Japanese. She sounds like Janet Jackson:

GEM came here for the fans that listens to her HK music

asian stars should not try to make english albums here, almost guarantee flop,
but that doesnt mean they shouldn't have concerts here
