I thought the guy was 23 years old or so like late teens because this is what usually happens. I had no idea he was 40 already.

Then what? He'll try to run away? Even with his crippled legs, his mother at 70+ years old wouldn't probably find him. If other people find him, they wouldn't give a shit either...not like they would have the means to anyhow.

He looks pretty healthy. His mom's been taking care of him to the best of her abilities, even though being chained up is pretty bad.

Just for the fact that the news is out there I sincerely hope the government would step in to help the mother and the son.

Even if they end up helping them as a publicity stunt or actually doing the right thing, I hope more of these stories will show up (I am possitive that there are thousands of stories similar to this...) so that the Chinese Government would actually put their government funding somewhere useful.

The old woman has no choice. The story is truly a sad one. She is doing the best she can. Release him and he will end up suffering and eventually dead. Nobody will give a shit. She has taken care of him for so many years and with very little time left, she wants to make sure the son is looked after. I don't know about the rest of you, but I see her as an awesome parent.

As for the siblings, they have probably moved on and have left that all behind. Not cool, but that's their choice, I guess. The boy is fortunate to have a mother who will not abandon him - that's the bottom line. Unless, of course, there's more to this story.
