Front wheel drive is great in the snow, i was never doubting that. I was more talking about the torque steer/understeer/no sideways in snow issues with FWD

^ That's actually pretty good. Says low kms but doesn't actually list the actual kms.

edit: reading comprehension fail on my part. long day.

meh i would never get an xdrive bmw.. that's just me though (unless we're talking about x5s or something)

the weight distribution and handling is a lot better in the rwd ones. that's what bmw is known for anyway. also drivetrain loss + heavier car from the awd.

personally i would rather go quattro than xdrive if what i wanted was awd.

33,000KM out of an 04 seems to good to be true, And I don't want a car with 175KM. Yeah, i know it'll be reliable blah blah blah, but i'm still looking for a car with relatively low KM.

At this point, my thoughts are:

If I decide to go FWD/AWD (Whistler/Cypress)

-B6 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro (APR Stage two)
-8PA Audi A3 2.0T (APR Stage one)
-Infiniti G35X Sedan (Stock, perhaps coupe mid-pipe)
-MKV Golf GTI (APR Stage one/two)

If I decide to go RWD, Which i DO want more

-Infiniti G35 Sedan 6MT (stock Perhaps Coupe mid-pipe)
-E46 BMW 330 6MT (225HP, what are common mods for this?)
-Some suggestions for more RWD would be nice. (I'm not wanting an S2000, or other convertibles, As i will still need to do alot of winter driving)

RWD can be good on snow with good winter tires. Try finding an E46 330i ZHP. That's all the car you need.

Very true. (I had to Google ZHP, i'm embarrassed) But what does the ZHP Package add? More power, Sport suspension etc? Also, A 6MT IS fun, but i like the idea of an SMG. Do E46 330's have that as an option, or was it only the M3's?

Its an E46 with enough changes that make that car special.

- Engine mods that equal a gain of 10HP & 8 ft/lb of torque by reprogramming the Digital Motor Electronics to allow a 6800 RPM max (up from 6500).
- 6 speed short throw shifter (for manual transmission equipped cars)
- 3.07:1 Final drive ratio w/ manual trans instead of the standard 2.91:1.
- Max Speed Limiter set to 155 mph (instead of 128)
- New M suspension, more "sporty" than standard or poor road package.
- Firmer shocks
- Smaller diameter anti-roll bars
- More rigid forward bushings
- ZHP control arms are different and use a stiffer ball joint
- Lower ride height by 15 mm (.6 inches) utilizing shorter auxiliary springs
- Exterior trim elements (front & rear fascia, trunk lid spoiler)
- Special exterior trim: Anthracite (charcoal) headlight & fog light surrounds, High-Gloss Shadowline (black gloss) trim
- Large diameter stainless steel dual exhaust outlets
- Extra thick Alcantara steering wheel (later switched to perforated leather)
- ZSP Sport Seats
- Alcantara & cloth upholstery to replace leatherette and standard trim
- Choice of "Black Cube" or "Silver Cube" interior trim
- Red needles on the instrument cluster
- Style 135's are added, 18x8.0" front, 18x8.5" rear
- Wider Tires: 225/40ZR-18 in front and 255/35ZR-18 in the rear.
- Reduced steering rack ratio. 13.7:1 versus 15.4:1

Now THAT sounds just about perfect. What denotes the ZHP package when one goes to look at a 330? (Chances are the 50 year old person driving it has no clue they have a ZHP package) As in is it worked into the VIN?

Don't think its in the VIN but its easy to tell a ZHP apart from a regular 330i just by looking at it. Look for the M Tech II bodykit, shadowline trim, and special wheels on the outside. The inside will have M steering wheel and shifter, anthracite headliner, and cube trim.

One other RS'er has a ZHP convertible I can't remember his username off the top of my head.

I just searched craigslist and there's only one ZHP on there... in automatic too. Hmm they are rare but if you can find one they are special cars.

I'd rather not have a RHD as a daily. On the ZHP note, i think it's time to start hunting for one.
