I love having a cabin on the lake in the Cariboo :)

True that. Although we managed to get away with some rowdy teenager shenanigans at Chilliwack Lake a few times.

haha I remember going up to Golden Ears one year when we were underaged. Park Ranger drove by in an unmarked vehicle and caught us pouring Bacardi into a 2L pop bottle. Was pretty chill about it though.

I was in Harrison about a week ago and the lake is really high.

Whats the best last minute campsite without reservation? Planning to go to Stave Lake, but i heard its going to be hella packed to the bone.

If anybody is going up there friday (friday morning would be best) I will gladly pay someone to reserve me a spot until saturday 7pm. PM me!

Wishful_Thinker 07-31-2012 09:23 PM

Manning. No phone reception though.

kwy 07-31-2012 09:41 PM

That's the point of camping.

hit up harrison lake. i went there last year. no cellphone reception and not very many people at all.

down part is, gotta go on logging roads to get there.
basically drive about 20-25km on the logging roads until someone in a reflector vest greets you. i think it was like $25 dollar a car. and then drive in until you like the spot. park, camp.

Stave Lake. Lower car friendly. Downhill dusty/gravel road. Easy to get to.

Jones Lake. NOT lower car friendly AT ALL. Uphill rocky/bumpy ride. Make sure you have all your food/supplies. Stores are not close by.

RS Camping meet??

Phil@rise 08-01-2012 11:45 AM

squamish paradise valley and surrounding area, harrison and surrounding area, stave and surrounding area tons of places in chilliwack gill, chipmunk, vedder. grab a backroads mapbook for the region your looking into and start planning.

The mozzies are starting to get pretty bad around Silver. Not quite as bad at Ross where I was for the weekend but still bring plenty of afterbite if you're headed up that way.

Why do I envision an entire weekend of all these guys sitting around moaning over the loss of their Civics' front lips and wondering how to do field repairs on banged-up catalytic converters? :troll:

punkwax 08-02-2012 11:37 AM

RS group meet @ Soundy's cabin. Do some glamping ~ glamourous camping.

Soundy 08-02-2012 11:47 AM

Party down, guys - we got nicely maintained gravel roads, 1500' of lake frontage, lots of clear front yard for tents... no cell service, but there is a landline to call BCAA. :D

Here's the cabin:

Agree.

Dude has Civic, so the locals' favourite/best kept secret sites accessible only via monster truck are probably not doable.

Besides, you can't go wrong with Manning. Hike a bit and you're near the water for canoeing and shit. OP did say no need for running water, toilets, etc....... real camping, LOL.

E C Manning Provincial Park - BC Parks

The last time I went camping with my friends at Manning was during high school days, so things might have changed a bit. I believe we went to Poland Lake with our canoes. If I had to do that today, I would die from the hike.

Its not super cheap, but you pay for what you get....great facilities, large clean camp grounds, and beautiful scenery. Plus, there is a lot to do there.... Alpine Meadows, canoeing, hiking or trail walking, laying on the beach, swimming, feeding the ground squirrels (:)), etc...

Manning is one of my favorite places in the world....I was also lucky enough to work their as a park ranger one summer.

How strict are they with noise? First time going, and I'm pretty sure we're going to be quite loud haha.
