camping in bc

Planning a camping trip in the coming weeks, anyone know of some good free spots to camp. I'm thinking in the chilliwack area. Doesn't have to have running water or toilets or anything like that but Ideally by a river or lake. And needs to be accessable with a civic ;)

Google isn't too helpfull and my tablet isn't letting me do a search on here so sorry if posted already.

Thanks!

Sayres Lake - gorgeous little out-of-the-way spot. Turn off from the logging road up Stave Lake (Florence Lake FSR). I don't know how they got it there, but last time we took the Jeep there, we saw some kids camping with their old shitbox Tercel.

Go to Track #4 | Author Soundy | free Mobile GPS Tracking Service and zoom in on the purple waypoint marker.

Me and my friends usually go to Chilliwack Lake. Running water, toilets, even a volleyball net.

I miss camping :alone:

A lot of people camp in Hong Kong. They're always lining up for collectibles and ramdon shit. :troll:

lol I know what you mean. It is true too that there is camping here. But I don't want to build up a whole new collection of gear again... plus camping in a subtropical jungle is a bit :heckno:

Which campsite do you guys recommend thats in the Okanagan? I've been looking at bear creek park, but only because it had decent reviews.

Agree.

Dude has Civic, so the locals' favourite/best kept secret sites accessible only via monster truck are probably not doable.

Besides, you can't go wrong with Manning. Hike a bit and you're near the water for canoeing and shit. OP did say no need for running water, toilets, etc....... real camping, LOL.

E C Manning Provincial Park - BC Parks

The last time I went camping with my friends at Manning was during high school days, so things might have changed a bit. I believe we went to Poland Lake with our canoes. If I had to do that today, I would die from the hike.

Silver creek, Hope. Many free spots along the logging road past the actual campground at Silver Lake. No problem in a civic and right alongside the creek.

"camping in bc"

... doesn't leave lower mainland

SkinnyPupp 07-31-2012 06:28 AM

Yeah there aren't too many good spots close to the mainland that I've found. Actually all my favourite places were on the island.. but then that's where I grew up... Fuck, so many epic memories of camping around the island, including trying lsd for the first time :megusta:

What's a good place where we won't get noise complaints or cranky old people?

SkinnyPupp 07-31-2012 06:49 AM

If you plan on getting rowdy, don't go to a park. You'll have to find your own spot in the bush

punkwax 07-31-2012 07:38 AM

Again, Silver creek.

jepho 07-31-2012 08:21 AM

the people I'm going with don't want to drive super far, that's why its more lower mainland than BC. if it was up to me id go to Invermere

And the goal is to go somewhere more secluded because we don't want to be hassled for noise etc.
A friend lives out in Chilliwack and he said cops go along the Vedder river dumping booze etc that's why i kinda ruled it out.

I think ill look into Silver Creek or Manning... didn't even think about manning.

dinosaur 07-31-2012 08:32 AM

You can party too hard at Manning, so if that is what you are looking for, beware. Also, it can be super busy so try and make reservations if you can. Its not super cheap, but you pay for what you get....great facilities, large clean camp grounds, and beautiful scenery. Plus, there is a lot to do there.... Alpine Meadows, canoeing, hiking or trail walking, laying on the beach, swimming, feeding the ground squirrels (:)), etc...

Manning is one of my favorite places in the world....I was also lucky enough to work their as a park ranger one summer.

Both east and west Harrison have great camping spots. No outhouse but the view is still great and tons of spots in both locations

Island camping FTW.

For some reason my cousin always goes to the mainland interior for camping, paying the exhorbitant ferry fares for his trailer and all the gas. I always tell him "Why would you pay all that money, and go through all the hassle, when there's great camping over here?"

I'm going up to Strathcona this weekend :fullofwin:
