Rare 240 year old violin stolen from car parked in Metrotown. Violin worth $50,000

-gotta shake my head at this woman who had her antique violin stolen in Burnaby.

Who brings a violin worth 50 grand to Metrotown?

Other items stolen include a $3,000 bow to play the violin, a couple of brand new laptop computers, an iPhone and a Louis Vuitton bag.

Never ever leave valuables in your car, even in a locked trunk.

Does anyone else not really feel sorry for this person? The violin, bow, brand new laptops , and a LV bag and going into the mall for more shopping? Hard lesson to learn, but I'm more sympathetic to stories such as the disabled woman who had her ipad stolen on the skytain.

If she had a $50,000 violin, I'd like to know what car it was in.

Also... no thieves randomly break into trunks for stuff they can't see, way too high a chance of there being nothing there. This is especially true on what I assume is a higher-end car where it tends to be much more difficult to get in. Guaranteed this was a targeted theft by somebody who knows this woman well enough to know about her violin and a bit about her schedule...

A couple of brand new lap tops to go with it. The reminds me of when someone stole my original van gogh painting from my trunk along with my briefcase of 100k in cash.

If i brought that violin out of my safe for any reason i would strap to myself, so that it doesn't get lost/stolen.

a 240 year old violin.. in a 240?

Whoever broke into this lady's car just hit a goldmine. Two laptops, an iPhone and an LV bag to boot?

I seriously don't get why these people keep putting valuables in the car. Not even in the trunk or glove box. It's Canada guys, but even though the stereotype of us having to not even lock our house doors is just not real.

From one violinist to another, I hope she finds it. Hurts when you lose something valuable when it comes to your musical instrument.

i was working @ metro at the time, she was a nice lady. Just bought a new macbook and from what i heard she left it in her car's back seat and went back shopping to the mall. Her violin was in her back seat as well, so that went as well I guess...there was cops and everything w/ my manager. I feel bad for her...but hey, you can't expect every one to take precautions on these things...I guess you do in metro. I've heard many stories from my manager about his employees' cars getting broken into...it's ridiculous!

lol, I bought a $700 suit last weekend. Had to go for dinner so I figured it would be safe in the trunk.
I Walked into the restaurant and had a bad feeling, and decided to go back and take it with me into the restaurant.

ICBC does not cover stuff like this, she will have to go through her home owners insurance if she wants to claim it all.

I don't why people put valuable's left in the car for others to have suspicious attempts to steal..leave valuable at home if your not doing anything that doesn't involve using it...it's like leaving a pick net basket on the grass unattended..10 min from checking...someone already stole it!!!

I never leave anything valuable in the car. I'll always shove my laptop in my backpack or take it into a restaurant with me because of that same feeling you got
