I don't know how one would consider Boathouse romantic - noisy, expensive and a mediocre menu at best.

:ratedb:

food at le gavroche is mediocre at best. don't bring a foodie there.

La Quercia on west 4th. Get the family style 9 course menu. Its not expensive by any means, amazing food, service and atmosphere. Its my favourite restaurant in the city. Abigails party is nice, L'abbatior if you are really into food, and want something fairly intricate and interesting. The really good food in this city certainly isn't usually the most expensive. Cafeteria on main is rad, Peid de terre for really good classic french food. Maenam I have heard is also awesome, and the chef/owner is very rad and crazy talented, although I have never eaten there, but he helped us make a menu for a cocktail/food pairing series I used to be part of when we were doing thailand as the theme.

Cafeteria is more casual date place.
Peid is a touch more upscale.
Maenam I would says is a more relaxed atmosphere, lunch date + beach would be suggested.

I'm happy with the quality of food at these 3 :)

Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House That place got some good sea food and oysters! However, price is on the higher end and sometimes it can get loud.

I agree they are semi casual, but i still think they can qualify as romantic. Awesome food/wine leads to awesome bang.:eek5x:

If your lady likes to eat good food and it's not too too fancy of a celebration, you can also make her a nice dinner at home.

My gf left today for China for 3 weeks, we celebrated last night by going to Costco, getting the nicest steaks we could find, some fresh garlic chicken right out of the rotisserie, smoked salmon, and a quinoa salad for $60. We also opened a bottle of sparkling wine. Awesome feast and I only had to cook the steak.
