Minivans:
Power sliding doors
Power trunk
Putting strollers straight in the back without folding
No back aches fitting ur child in the car seat

Sounds cool to me

Buy a Sienna, you won't have to worry about the "coolness" factor :fullofwin:

How about Mercedes CPO C class 4 Matic? Right now it can be had with 0.9% with free 4matic.. etc. Works out to be low 30s when you include taxes. You get more power to haul kids, family and accessories and 4WD to boot.

dvst8 08-07-2012 04:47 PM

same situation currently, most likely picking up the CRV.

i think the Infinity SUV's are really nice.
Maybe an EX or FX?

That's contrary to what I've read on the TDI boards, Vortex, as well as the dealership itself (which has a vested interest in convincing me to purchase a more expensive TDI). As well, because my yearly mileage isn't that high, based on my admittedly shoddy math skills, I would have to keep the TDI for almost 10 years to break even on fuel costs. Not to mention the slightly more expensive maintenance for the TDI (compared to the 2.5). As well, the DPF is what would be causing most of the issues with just city driving (or so I've read).

I would have loved to have gotten a TDI (then chip it) but based on my research, it didn't really make too much sense.

I bought a Ford Edge when we had our baby - tonnes of room, very comfortable

And adults can walk to the back anytime to attend baby. One can even have toddler use a portable toilet with enough room in the back. For rainy weather family can jump in quickly too.

The Odyssey is quite nice...

I think it is a by product that doesn't get mentioned very much, since there are bigger points to sell you. eg that's one of the reasons why trucks who get stranded on the Coq in winter leave their engines running even overnight and they still have plenty of gas in the morning.

If you're looking at a CRV Definitely check out the new 2013 ford escape Eco boost 2.0 L

It is very fun to drive (tons of power), handling is very nice (feels like a car). Great on gas (2.0L Turbo) and in the same price range as the CRV. Also, it's fully loaded with autopark/smart trunk open (swip your leg under the bumper and the rear hatch opens)/ford sync/back up camera/navigation/adaptive cruise etc. It's a very nice truck.

And, with the 2.0 you can actually hear the turbo spool ;) lol

you mean CUV.

MK2 Jetta

I know, that sounds pretty rediculous, but for the price of a newer used sedan, you can get a fucking spectacular example of one.

From owning two of them, I can attest to;

-Huge trunk

-Good rear leg room

-Excellent fuel economy

-Cheap parts

-Decent power (if you get a 16V model)

Again, choosing a mid 80's sedan might not seem like the best idea at first, but the value is there if you find a well documented example. I would trust my life to one any day.

If you really don't want to go down that road, there is always the 05' style Acura TL's, they are good cars too.

nack 08-14-2012 09:23 PM

how about a used lexus rx?

AstulzerRZD 08-14-2012 09:55 PM

I was browsing eBay motors the other day, and clean LS430s seem to be cheaper than a new Honda Civic [as in ~20,000 for a near perfect example cheap]

The 430 has a much larger greenhouse area than most sedans, is bound to have tons of room, being a large size sedan designed to shuffle around CEOs/executives in Japan. Also, the Lexus suspension which makes driving akin to floating on clouds will definitely keep the children asleep
