That is one nice logic you got there.
Porsche or Tercel...doesnt matter....When a car is travelling at 131kmph, it is gonna fuck some shiet up when it collides with another car.

lgman 08-08-2012 04:16 AM

Theres a stretch going to squamish that has 30k posted for 2km no construction no lights, nothing. Dead quiet. Is it ok to go the previous stated 70k?

Try driving something with brakes first junior before playing the "pseudo-scenarios" cards.

Brakes don't do fuck-all, junior, until the driver actually applies them.

the clincher is the officer who gave them the tickets/etc had just recently warned the porsche club

Porsches impounded after drivers caught speeding in West Vancouver

And according to 24 Hours:

24 Hours Vancouver

Quote:

The same officer had already issued a warning the previous week to the drivers, who are members of a Porsche club that drive up the highway together each Saturday morning.

“The officer was on the look out for this group and went out the following Saturday at the same time and place. And they did it again after being warned,” Khorram said.
I just have to shake my head when I read the above paragraph... :failed:

This is exactly what I mean about these guys being morons. They have ZERO, ZIP, ZILCH, NO excuse for not knowing what was going to happen... yet they did it anyway.

:ahwow:

Teknique 08-08-2012 10:32 AM

Why don't these guys cruise on HWY 1, 110km/h speed limit and only saw 2 cops in 11 hours. I drove to Calgary last week in a 135i and it was pretty awesome.

unit 08-08-2012 10:42 AM

i dont really mind sharing my speeding experience

i got caught doing 141 in an 80, it was on the stretch of hwy91 approaching richmond.
it was also 3am and the cop caught was waiting for me at quite a distance. i didnt even see him till it was too late.
i was doing 61 over, and there were no other cars on the road. at no point did this speed given the circumstance feel dangerous at all.

not bitching about the fine i had to pay, but theres nothing scary or dangerous about doing 141 in an 80 at 3am.
i guess i need a porsche to make the news.

Lomac 08-08-2012 12:42 PM

While I really don't like or agree with the automatic impoundment law, if it's true that these drivers were previously warned, then I have no sympathy.

context

reading your post made me do the jackie chan face actually. how the fuck is that context? the guy compared 2 similar highways in neighbouring countries that have similar speed limits. you then tried to compare the same highways to a highway on the other side of the world (and as such, very different speed governing laws), to a sanctioned competitive race event, and then to a machine that doesn't even travel on roads

dark0821 08-08-2012 03:06 PM

no sympathy here....

what i got from the articles was that they were WARNed last week... and they sped at the exact same area the following week....

When was the last time you got a warning when it was a speeding infraction...FFS idiots... I was lucky enough to get a warning before... but it was for a rolling stop at a stop sign

as for the speeding.. ya... just paid and shut up abt it... never got a warning for that...

/end rant =P

No you need a pack of Porsches. Was your car impounded or was this before the rule came into effect?

before the impoundment law.
got a $368 ticket, and 3x annual icbc premiums @ $320 each.

$1328 in total. i think getting impounded would have been cheaper.

I wonder the implications and difficulties would be of implementing something similar to an autobahn in North America...

Different countries, different driving attitudes/rules/speed limits

i wasn't comparing them in context i was giving an example of being out of context in a humorous trolly manner

comprehension

:P

hpw912 08-08-2012 05:52 PM

there's something going on with police enforcement these days.
i'm not saying the drivers shouldnt receive their tickets but the cops are having some sort of operations against speeding these days.

i got pulled over last week doing 60 in a 60 zone. yup. i saw the cop in my mirrors and i wasnt speeding and got pulled over, then the cop told me i was going 78.
got a warning in the end though but just saying that cops are pulling people over for whatever reasons these days. just be smart when driving.

jlenko 08-08-2012 06:01 PM

Loaded enough to buy 'em, stupid enough to NOT listen to the cops after they were warned once. Punishment deserved.

Drive with the flow. Race at Mission. Real fuckin' simple.

A Tercel at 100 km/h will outbrake any Porsche or Ferrari at 130 km/h.

mb_ 08-08-2012 06:50 PM

http://vancouver.24hrs.ca/News/local...Porsche_RS.jpg

If anyone cares, the 4 cars that were impounded are 996 GT2, 997 GT3, 993 Turbo and 997 Turbo.

Energy 08-08-2012 06:54 PM

Now that's a proper pack of Porsches. For a second I thought it would be Boxters or Cayennes. Owners can probably take the fines and have extra cars to drive.

It's simple physics. And yes, it's true.
