Cell phone roaming

There used to be a place by 1st ave and renfrew where they offered international cell phone plans for a low costs for roaming. I remember seeing this before I went to Hong Kong in 2010. I drove there tonight and the place was closed down.

Where can I get an international data plan here that can be used in Europe or is it way cheaper to get a data plan in Europe? If Europe, which cell phone provider do you recommend?

I prefer to get it here if possible. I don't want to waste time monkeying around looking for a cell phone plan in Europe.

WIND Mobile | European Roaming

$1/MB is decent. I don't mind paying $100 for 100MB. Has anyone used this before?

Europe is huge. You need to give a better description of what you're looking for. What countries are you going to?

Since a thread about cell phone roaming has been started here, I would like to ask people about Roam Mobile. I am planning on taking a short trip to LA for a week or so. I've been hearing about Roam Mobile. Any of you have experience with this company and their plan? Is there something similar out there?

tia

I'm planning on buying their cheapest phone, the Breeze. 50 bucks and I get US phone number with unlimited calling and texting anywhere in the US and Canada for 3 bucks a day or less. I just pay for the amount of days I need the phone service. Phone belongs to me and number stays as long as I use it once a year.

I have iPhone, but don't want to unlock it.

I just wanted to know if the company was reputable. From your experience they at least gave you a refund, so that's a good sign.

thanks

definitely get the local country's prepaid, roaming will never be cheap no matter who provides it here, just make sure your phone is unlocked and you're good to go

Is that 500MB in addition to your current data plan or 500MB total for Canada and USA?

$7.5 is very cheap for 500MB. Currently I have 6GB anywhere in Canada only. No roaming in the USA.

Do you have a link for the $7.5 for 500MB for anywhere in the NA? I'm interested.

T-Mobile has, hands down, the best pay as you go plan (assuming you are on smartphone)

Depends if you need to receive/make a lot of calls. If so, the T-Mobile 1day pass pay as you go is pretty good.

I only need data when I am down south. I bought a T-Mobile Mi-Fi on CL for cheap and just load up every time I'm down there for anything longer than a day. $25 for 1.5GB/30days. Reception in city is superb and speed is crazy fast (usually over 500KB/s when I do speedtest). Then if I need to call anyone, just use skype/Viber.

US plans are priced really differently from Europes

Europe cell plans are cheaper than North America.. a sim card starts with 10 Euros with a bunch of hours etc? They don't even expire.

Vodafone gives you free sim card and 250MB of data for 5 pounds top up. (It is pretty much the same for the rest of Europe with Orange / TMobile).

Honestly roaming is for people who are suffering for Stockholm syndrome with their current providers.. or people who think they are the center of the universe.
