Windows 7 USB + Ports issue?

I recently booted up my desktop but none of the USB ports, ethernet port, or audio ports work. They all have power, but they dont work.

When I boot into bios, they all work so its something on the OS end i guess?

I tried a recovery CD to repair issues but none were found.
I cant install or do anything in windows itself because no peripherals work.

I tried plugging a PS/2 keyboard and mouse in and the result is the same. Works in bios, doesnt work in Win 7.

Does anyone have any ideas?

When you say it doesn't work in Win7, does that include safemode?

try installing the usb drivers? even tho Win7 does a pretty good job are recognizing most hardware, I will always download drivers for every hardware in my rig... yes, this mean LAN, WLan, sound, etc which also includes USB2.0 and 3.0 drivers for my motherboard... I first look at whoever made it, if that doesnt work, then its to mobo (gigabyte) website...

I cant install anything as none of the peripherals work when im in the OS, so i cant even open up a CD or a USB key to get the driver files out.

I went to the mobo website, they dont have anything of use.

Try booting up a live version of Ubuntu. If your USB devices work there, I would assume a reinstall is necessary for W7.

64 or 32bit? Did you install any new software/hardware recently? Boot into System Recovery, and try restoring back a day or two.

Oh how about take the HDD out of this desktop and connect it to another device. Then try booting up the HDD in question with that device's hardware?

Thanks for the help guys. It was a driver issue probably, but since I couldnt do anything at all in terms of reinstalling them, i just formatted.

No big loss though. Only the OS was on that drive.
