holy crap Will, that's a nice bag

Thanks! Yes I know the price is steep, but I've been using an $20 lowepro from craigslist for a while now. I'll probably use this bag for travelling and the lowepro for storing extra gear.

Where can I get a decent looking bag for under $200 locally?

Does Lens and Shutter have a good selection on display?

Thinking of checking that one out.

Does the small version have enough space to fit a 13.3" ultrabook?

I can answer the question that L&S seems to have a pretty solid in-person selection of bags (the Kerrisdale (?) location)

The BEST selection of bags I've seen was at Glazers in Seattle. Much bigger selelction than anything I've seen here. I know it's not local, but it's close enough to garner a look.

I picked up a backpack today. I wanted something small but was able to hold a travel sized tripod. I didn't think I'd end up with a bag from Roots, but I must say, its not too bad.

The backpack has 2 straps underneath for a travel sized tripod, but I'm sure if I wanted to, I could strap my 055xprob on there. It also has a loop on the side and a zippered pocket for a monopod. The other side has the same zipped pocket, but has openings for SD cards and pens. The front flap has pockets for accessories and it opens up to a bigger slot for an ipad.

This is why I like this bag, once it opens up, its basically one big space for you to configure what setup you like. It has more dividers, but I didn't need to use them all. Standard body with 70-200 attached right down the middle, with smaller dividers along the side for other lenses and accessories. Pictured is a D600 with 85mm attached, top left is a 20mm and bottom center is a 35mm. I also have my strap, p&s, GoPro and batteries, a suction cup mount and a speedlight. If it wasn't for the suction cup (for the GoPro) I could fit an even longer lens. Width may be a problem.

$80 from London Drugs. Little more than what I would have wanted to spend on a Roots bag, but it is built well and gave me everything I wanted without breaking the bank.

Incase Designs Corp DSLR Pro Backpack (Black Heathered) CL58059

I've been using this for about 6 months now. Fantastic backpack. Fits a LOT of stuff. Doesn't look like a camera bag.

Only problem is it doesn't have a rain cover.

Thats pretty much perfect. $150 is a bit steep though.

I find that's the going rate for better camera backpacks. I needed a camera/daypack to replace my aging (read: ugly) Lowepro Fastpack 250. A major feature of the bag was that it shouldn't look like a camera bag, and that it should be comfortable and spacious enough for my needs. I came across the Vanguard Kinray 48 in a magazine ad. Took the plunge ($150 at Costco, cheaper on bestbuy.ca), and it was better than my Lowepro in every way EXCEPT for the damn zippers. They're so thin that I feel like if I pack it too much everything will spill. But that said, it's mostly for going out on hikes/longer photo walks, and it's uber-comfortable with space to spare for other non-camera items.

It was the Vanguard or the F-Stop Guru, but configuring the latter to what I want would've been $$$$.

Digging up an old thread. Saw this Tenba P211 Classic the other day...am I crazy or is this an awesome design? I LOVE the zippered horizontal lens pockets at the bottom of the bag. It's a much more efficient use of space when you think about it.
