ABC News is now reporting that Tony Scott had an inoperable brain cancer. Is that why he committed suicide yesterday?

originalhypa 08-20-2012 08:32 AM

He was Ridley Scott's brother, I didn't know that.
So sad when someone does this. But what a shock that two major directors come from the same family. You know what they say, the line between genius and insanity is often blurred.

Yup thats what everyone is reporting now, he also left LAPD a list of people to notify with their phone numbers in addition to a suicide note.

SkinnyPupp 08-20-2012 09:14 AM

If only America's laws weren't governed by religion (they're not supposed to be) he wouldn't have had to jump off a fucking bridge :okay:

Revscene sympathetic to a suicide because someone is famous?

Your opinion will be valid when you get inoperable brain cancer and decide to take the high road and live as the cancer eats you from the inside out. Tell us what a pussy he was then

Oh right right, so only people with a physical disease.

I guess mental disorders are all made up then.

the point is revscenes traditional attitude of berating/belittling/antagonizing/etc/etc anyone who "holds up traffic", etc, because they're wanting to commit suicide/committing suicide/ failing suicide / committed suicide

What are you talking about? Clearly this guy offed himself because he was going to die anyways, and had no other means of doing it since the doctors won't put you to rest. Killing yourself because you're depressed is completely different, you have a chance of overcoming it.

LiquidTurbo 08-20-2012 01:10 PM

This is why we need legal assisted suicide.

LiquidTurbo 08-20-2012 09:35 PM

Oops, I redact my statement. Apparently no cancer at all.

Brain cancer or not, I don't get the whole "get mad at someone for committing suicide" thing. It's his life, he can do what he wants with it. He doesn't owe you anything. His wife and kids should be mad, but then we don't know his mental health state either.

I don't think people are 'mad'. Suicide is the very last option. I think people get mad (or dissapointed) that often that when people commit suicide they could have gotten help, etc.

eclipseman 08-20-2012 09:56 PM

Whatever the case, he was a brilliant director. RIP.
