Samsung will appeal, and then one of them will appeal again in trying to get the case heard @ the surpreme court level. Having read some of the evidence posted by Apple, some of it makes you go "WTF was Samsung thinking?"

^It's based on royalties really ( # of patent violations * # of incidents (# of phones sold) * $approximate loss to Apple per violation ).. I'm more surprised that "some" (I agree with some, not all) of the 'patents' held up to the test

Everyone expected samsung to lose, the case is right in Apples territory (city), people involved are ex-silicon valley people.
but $1 billion in damages is quite high.

I'm not a fan of samsung or apple.

As a consumer, this is bad for competition and getting the prices lowered down.

it shouldn't have been left up to a Jury since Americans think that Apple invented everything

should leave it up to the icc to decide
