I was there, LOL.

It was good to see you again, lilaznviper.

I came away with the grass seeds. Nothing else caught my eye. 50% off is not great when stuff goes for 60 to 65% off at Canadian Tire often. I was at CT in the afternoon and the tool cabinet and chest that was at the liquidation was on sale for 50% off. The liquidation one has no warranty whatsoever, cannot be returned, and any name/logo has been ground off with a grinder.

There was this on dad who wanted to buy a bike for his little girl. The bike was out of adjustment and the brakes were tightened to the point they were not working. He wanted to borrow a wrench to loosen it. He was told he could not touch it with any kind of tool. "It looks like she fits it. At half price............ blah, blah, blah......."

Even though the products came from CT, the stuff will not be supported or honoured by them (understandable). Everything is "as is" and "all sales final."

Picked up one of those humongo torque wrenches for $45. Can`t really test to see if they work and I would have bought a really expensive humongo club to hit some one with if its broken.

Also
Autoglym Leather Cleaner
Garden Hose
Air Compressor

Not a bad haul really. Could be even cheaper though

Went to the first sale....and was wondering the same. They did that to almost every auto care product there too.

Anyone know the reasoning behind it?

murd0c 09-08-2012 08:17 PM

Because insurance wrote off those items and no longer carry any manufacture warranty.

MG1 09-08-2012 08:25 PM

^^So people won't try to return shit to a retail store and say they lost the receipt. The items are no longer Canadian Tire products. They unloaded everything and do not want any items coming back to them for warranty/liability issues, etc. What Able Auctions couldn't scratch off, a line was drawn across the UPC label in felt.

Hondaracer 09-08-2012 08:44 PM

go buy the good conditioned tuned up bike the same model and return the able auctions one

So how would it work for the people that bought generators? Do those have any sort of warranty?

Probably manufacturer's warranty only. Deal with them and not Canadian Tire or Able Auctions.

So you are not out of luck on that one. The only problem might be the receipt that reads "Able Auctions". Manufacturer might refuse it saying it may have been damaged (water, smoke, poor shipping, opened up and messed with, etc.).
