Here I thought TL2 and Borderlands 2 in September was going to be exciting...
XCOM: Enemy Unknown is coming out on October 9th and its based off the original XCOM: UFO Defense for those who cant remeber that turn based strategy game check out this video...
I remember when I finally made it to Mars I was so fricken happy. I'm not big into games but this is one I would buy just because it's X-COM and nothing beat's memories from childhood

LOL Gotta admit, the revised "improved" versions never quite seem the same as the originals.
It's like playing the new CS, just isn't the same as the original. But playing the original now for me isn't the same either. I tried recently, just wasn't as fun as I remembered. Maybe cuz I'm horrible at it now and too spoiled by the new technology.
i'd love autodestructing my agents cuz it took out the whole screen.
or using the persuade thing and persuading every single civilian to follow you, arming them and getting in one of those slick hover cars.
then you blow up the hover car and its like a million burning people running out in all directions. LOL!!!
Anyone playing this game? My friend bought it for me as a bday gift. It's got a classic X-Com feel to it, but with a whole lot of improvements. The removal of action points is interesting. The game has a faster pace, but I kind of miss the fine-tuning that action points offered. Grenades are a nice go-to weapon, initially, but you'll need avoid blowing up aliens, if you want their equipment intact. Can't wait to play some more tonight!
i'm loving it so far, but DAMN its ridiculously hard even on normal difficulty.
i'm about to start over because the macro side of things is going to shit despite me doing well in the missions. Going to try focusing more on satelites i guess.
Snipers seem fairly OP... i was running 3/6 snipers and in longer outdoor areas they can just wreck things. My biggest problem is that elevation does not equal cover, so even though i get elevation bonuses by going up on top of a truck, every enemy gets flanking shots, seems like a stupid design decision. I really think it would have better with a fallout style stand/kneel/prone system.
Ya the game is REALLY good... I'm only a about 3 hours into it but loving every minute of it... You sure get attached to your squad members especially after you name them after family and friends LOL
Ugh... fuckin' Chrysalids. Research laser rifles asap. I ran out of money and was only able to get 2 laser rifles for my squad, and trying to take down an alien base with conventional weapons sucks. Especially, on the boss that tries to mind control your guys. I've named my soldiers after friends and family. Even with constant saving, I still end up losing people. Narayan's right. It's tough when you lose 'em. On average, soldiers have a 2 mission life expectancy.

What difficulty are you playing? I'm doing ironman normal and havent lost to many soliders. I believe I have like 4 majors and 2 captains for my main squad... I did just lose one of my best heavies last night who had 17 kills... Poor Grant... I cant wait to tell him at work today how he was vaporized LOL

I'm playing on normal. I don't think I should have took on the alien base so soon. I'm only in my 2nd month.
It's kinda shitty that aliens get a free move when you get initially get in their LOS. Those Chrysalids cover an insane amount of distance.
I think I am going to start a new game, paying more attention to building satellites right away. Combat is easy, but I am starting to lose countries fast. This is because I built up my weapons, but not satellites... good for a quick start, but sucks later on!
Frick lost 2 of my Majors when I was playing over the weekend... Last mission I had I lost my best heavy and half my squad was hurt, loving it though!
and on a total side note I was just made aware that there is a ton of stuff you can sell on the black market that you dont need... I made over 1k in cash by doing so which helped alot...
