Jewelry-store thieves - Metrotown Brazen Burnaby jewelry-store thieves smash stolen truck into Metropolis mall (with video) METRO VANCOUVER -- Burnaby police are looking for a group of jewelry-store thieves who smashed a stolen jeep through the front doors of Metrotown’s Metropolis mall and robbed two businesses of some pricey pieces. Early last Friday morning, a mall security camera caught the Jeep Cherokee speeding down a hallway, narrowly missing a janitor with a mop, and smashing through a store window, before turning around and hitting another storefront. Clad all in black, four men piled out of the truck and split up to loot the display cases of both stores. The thieves then drove back through the same smashed mall entrance before ditching the stolen jeep nearby on Royal Oak Avenue and Buxton Street, according to an RCMP news release. “This brazen crime trend is concerning to us, and thankfully no innocent citizens have been injured,” said Burnaby RCMP Supt. Derren Lench. “It’s obvious we are dealing with a determined and professional group.” Police believe this robbery matches others that have occurred at malls throughout the Lower Mainland. look at that jeep power through the security gate, Like BUTTER! And they say american cars are worse than european? Pff I'll take my jeep over an x5 anyday :troll: |
Heard about this...rather odd. Crashed through the superstore outside doors? haha |
That poor janitor. To think he had just finished cleaning the area where they smashed! |
Amateurs! Driver could have let out the dudes then re-positioned. But Shiett.....who knew it was that easy? |
inb4 smoothie :lawl: I guess jeep is better than X5 at robberies. |
There's a police station @ crystal mall 1.5 blocks away. Not exactly to smartest place to go and rob. |
Aren't there any bollards in that area to prevent it from happening? |

Do they sell high end jewellery at Lugaro? Just 14K and maybe 18K? I doubt 24K right? |
WOW, no wonder Michael Hill and the other store was covered with boards on Saturday. And I thought they were going through renovations or closing out. Feel bad for the shops owners' loss, that janitor must have been terrified... Looks like they drove in from the Superstore mall entrance and drove all the way to that area. |
wow... they took that gate out like they had practice Lugaro carries overpriced jewellery imo I'm surprised they didn't go to that jewellery store several feet over... can't remember what its called but its next to the washrooms and the storefront is made to look like a boutique on the streets iirc they have pricier items isn't everything put into the safes anyway until opening? :crazy2: and police say it matches other mall thefts recently :fulloffuck: |
damn that is intense |

yes they have pricier items, but hard to go in and out all the way in there, plus that store's way more secure than those gates if i remember correctly |
at they were smart enough to NOT use and X5, which would cost a lot to repair :troll: |
The morale of the story is, if you're going to commit a crime with an automobile, don't use your OWN automobile. The X5 driver only got caught because he went back to the scene of the crime, presumably looking for his license plate. |
