they could have taken more if they were in a hurry, but who ever did it re exited the car by crawling out the window :okay:

snails 09-19-2012 12:44 PM

thanks for all the input guys, this car means more to me than really anything, especially with all the money and work into it

- kT 09-19-2012 12:53 PM

well like i mentioned i don't think you need to worry about the car considering they could've stolen it already with no work whatsoever since you found the key. since you're worried about your windows being pried open again, why not go outside the box and get some window visors? its not a solid deterent but i think it'll be enough to ward away anybody who's just looking for a quick ipod or something

That's one of the worst ideas I've ever heard. Not only from a "ease of jacking a car" stand point, but just basic logic. What would you do if you locked your main keys in the car? Get your spare key, oh wait:facepalm:

i have 3 keys for my car, other anti auto theft things in place, someone with my key alone cant steal my car, and no im not just referring to a club. i know it dosnt sound right, but the key was also hidden, clearly not a smart move, but when u dont assume this is going to happen you dont really plan to well for it.

anywyas, off to get window sensors, 2 way pager and fabbing a window lock up today

RS Security FAQ http://www.revscene.net/forums/63042...ity-101-a.html

Easiest option is to get a proxy sensor.

+1 for the proximity sensor, they use them in convertibles all the time. Even with your windows down somebody can't just reach into your car, once they break that invisible barrier the alarm goes off.

Car broken into overnight....and goes off creating a thread on RS starting with "YAY!"

:seriously:

I live across the street from snails. Lived here for about 5 years, and with 3 different cars I've had over 10 break ins :(. Last time was Thursday night. 2 way alarm is the best thing ever. The last 5 break ins they just open the door, setting off the alarm. I run outside with a bat to see them already down the street getting into a car and taking off. No damage and nothing stolen.

Almost positive its the same guys every time. Pretty tired of it. How do we stop these fuckers?

It's pretty simple actually.

Leave something in the car as a decoy in plain view, hide somewhere on your property with the weapon of choice, and wait till the thieves come around.

A friend of mine did that a few years ago, suprisingly all the car break-ins around his neighborhood stopped after he took care of the problem that one night.

You can set up an Motion Activated IP camera which will send you a text or message if there is motion in the area. Fairly cheap, only a $100 and pretty simple to setup and use.

I suggest it because it's an easy, simple way that MAY work without you having to put too much money or effort into it. Plus, the camera can always be useful down the road for security purposes.

They do work really well, infact I have 3 of them.

Everymans 09-19-2012 09:23 PM

I had my car broken into 2 times. So I decided to simply tape a piece of paper to my back window reading"This car is a worthless piece of crap, the brakes are done, the tires are aweful and it's an eyesore and will probably break down halfway down the block. The only thing left in it are empty water bottles. Also, it's booby trapped." No one touched it after that for like a year and a half. I often left my doors unlocked as well(no auto door locks.) It sounds rediculous and I honestly doubt it would not work on a decent car, but hey, it's comedic and it might deter them? possibly..?

Anjew 09-19-2012 09:54 PM

i would just leave my glovebox empty and leave it open. hopefully the thief would get the point and move on.
